The Tiara 3600 Open is a 38-foot express cruiser yacht that was produced by the award-winning Michigan-based yacht-building firm Tiara Yachts between 2004 and 2014. An undeniably sporty form with a lightweight hard-top, a wrap-around windshield, sleek lines, a flared bow and an expansive fish-focused cockpit signals that this is a boat for adventurous souls. Yet this yacht strikes a superb balance between fishing capabilities and leisure cruising with the whole family, with plenty of space to kick back and relax.
At the stern there is a full-beam bathing platform accessed by a transom door that is perfect for hauling your prize catch aboard or simply for setting off on warm-water swimming jaunts. The 70-square foot aft-cockpit boasts fishing essentials such as a floor plate for a fighting chair, flush rod holders, macerated fish boxes, an optional live-well, ample tackle storage, a bait-prep center, Rupp outriggers and water hoses. This space can be transformed into a sun-kissed aft-lounge in a matter of minutes thanks to a fold-out transom sofa, two drop-down mezzanine chairs in Ultraleather, a pop-up table and integrated Clarion speakers linked to a Bose home entertainment system. Serious fishers, meanwhile, can also fit this yacht with a half-size tuna tower to make it tournament ready.
Heading into the open main-deck cabin, covered with a fiberglass canopy and shielded at the front and sides by a plexiglass windscreen, you will discover an L-shaped port-side sofa with a pop-up cocktail table and a starboard side wet-bar with an ice-chipper and an optional barbecue grill. Up top there is a starboard “EZ Tilt-Away” helm with Teleflex hydraulic steering, SeaKey telematics, a Ritchie magnetic compass, Bennett trim tab controls, VDO analogue gauges, a Garmin Multi-function display screen and VHF radio, while optional extras like a fish-finder can be installed at the buyer’s discretion.
A glazed companionway door leads down to a surprisingly capacious lower deck with a teak and holly sole, glossy teak or maple cabinets, cream leather furnishings, oval portholes and plenty of skylights. A U-shaped dining sofa with a grain-matched dining table sits across from an open galley with a Force 10 two-zone hob, an Emerson combination microwave, an Isotherm fridge-freezer, a Black & Decker coffee machine, Corian countertops and a steel sink. There is a main head with an open shower down here, while a queen berth for two sits up by the bow and benefits from hanging lockers and hidden storage below the bed. Should you wish to bring along two extra guests then the dining sofa can be turned into a double bed.
You can choose between twin 385MHP Crusader 8.1MPI gasoline inboards or twin 380MHP Cummins QSB5.9 diesel engines to fire this yacht to top speeds approaching the 36-knot mark, while at cruising speeds of 28 knots you will enjoy a range of 392 nautical miles.
