The Tiara 3500 Open is a classic 35.6-foot express cruiser produced by Michigan-based shipyard Tiara Yachts between 1998 and 2004. With soft, rounded lines, rich interior finishes and versatile layouts, this yacht has remained popular on the used and charter markets for many years, satisfying cruisers and sportfishers alike with a range of thoughtful amenities.
From the bow, onlookers will note the stunning brightwork and Lewmar hatches. At the stern, guests can use the integrated swim platform with folding swim ladder to bathe in the sea at anchor. Head on up to the substantial 70-square-foot cockpit, and you’ll encounter a spacious, sociable spot. This area is available in several configurations. The standard cockpit layout features an aft-facing jumpseat to starboard, back-to-back seats, and a wet bar with a cutting surface, perfect for preparing lemon twists for martinis.
Owners have the freedom to mix and match options to create a custom cruiser, sportfisher, or both. For serious entertainers, an L-shaped lounge in the upper cockpit is available, while fishing enthusiasts can opt for a raw water washdown, rod holders, lift-out fishbox beneath the optional L-shaped aft lounge, an in-floor storage box or hinged lounge seat, and a reverse transom door and gate that leads to the swim platform.
Just forward, the raised cockpit helmstation are covered by a sturdy hardtop with excellent visibility from the convex windshield. To starboard, the helm is well-equipped, with an electric seat, large steering wheel, and easy access to controls, gauges, and customizable electronics systems. To port, raised L-shaped seating allows guests to interact with the captain.
With a 13.3-foot beam and 6.5 feet of headroom, the look and feel of this yacht goes far beyond its 35-foot length. An uncompromising amount of space is found below deck, where owners will delight at the sociable salon with a dinette that converts to a double berth. The full starboard galley features teak cabinetry and storage, Corian countertops, a fridge-freezer, two-burner cooktop, microwave, sink, and an overhead hatch and opening portlight for a bright, airy feel – the kind of kitchen owners and perhaps even guests will want to cook in.
The forward owner’s suite is substantial, with generous storage beneath the queen pedestal bed. With bi-fold wood door separating it from the salon, this room is a surprisingly private retreat perfect for owner-operators after a long day of boating.
The 3500 Open is powered by two standard 385hp Crusader 8.10L MPI gas inboard engines, but owners can opt for more powerful 370hp Cummins diesel engines for top speeds of over 30 knots and a cruising speed of around 21 knots.
