The Riva Dolceriva 48 is a 48.11 open yacht launched by the legendary Riva shipyard at the Cannes Boat Show in 2020 to great acclaim. Inspired by the iconic Riva boats of the 1960s, the Dolceriva 48 has the glossy mahogany decking and sensual lines of its predecessors with all the power and amenities that modern life demands.
Riva – operating under its parent company, Ferretti – has undertaken levels of attention to detail that would impress Michaelangelo. The wood decking has been given 20 coats of paint in between 20 sanding sessions to give the deck its heartbreakingly beautiful finish. The cockpit stretches out to the stern, where the transom folds down to create a swim platform featuring two sun lounges to port and starboard which can be removed and stored when not in use. Behind the helm, sofas on either side of the cockpit impart a convivial air perfect for socializing around a fold-out mahogany table. A mechanical bimini top can be rolled out to protect you and your guests from the sun if you choose. At the helm, everything you need is close at hand, from the horn, windshield wipers, radio, and cupholders. The wraparound windshield itself, designed by Italian firm Isoclima, embraces the boat, protecting it from sea spray and strong winds.
The steel and glass hatch leads down below to the salon and owner’s cabin, allowing light to stream in without overpowering the space. An L-shaped sofa greets you to port, with a coffee table for resting your coffee in the morning, or cocktails at night. Opposite is a small galley with sink and cooktop. In the standard configuration, a double owner’s cabin is located at the bow, with access to the day head. Other configurations of this yacht include a twin crew cabin, which takes up some space in the salon but retains is well-appointed elegance.
The Dolceriva 48 is equipped with two 1,000hp Volvo Penta D13s – located aft and amidships on V-drive transmissions – capable of reaching top speeds of 40 knots and a cruising speed of 35 knots. But this boat isn’t just about raw power: with a deep-V hull and a steering packing with rudders, V drives, and joystick, this vessel drives like a dream, making short work of tight corners and slices through the water like a knife.
