The Princess V62 yacht is a 63-foot hardtop express cruiser launched in 2008 and still in production today. Sleek and sporty lines crafted in collaboration with Princess Yacht’s American partners Viking complement a Bernard Olesinski designed V-hull constructed from solid, resin-infused laminate with multi-directional fiberglass reinforcement. This aerodynamic and robust design provides sportscar-like handling on the turn, reduced drag and a shallow draft for quick acceleration through the waves. Two years after the V62 was released to the public it was awarded the coveted accolade “Boat of the Year” at the 2010 Motor Boat of the Year awards held in London.
The enclosed cockpit on this model makes it a superb option for those who enjoy cruising in the more northerly latitudes where unfavorable conditions can be the norm. Yet there is also more than enough outdoor space for sun lovers who wish to explore the Mediterranean or the Florida Keys. An elongated aft-deck includes a triple-seater padded sunlounge and port and starboard steps down toward a full-beam teak swimming platform that can be raised and lowered into the water thanks to Opacmere hydraulics. The Sunlounge neatly hides a spacious tender garage that can also be reconfigured as a snug cabin for any crew you wish to take on board with you. The aft-deck includes a semi-sheltered space that is fitted with a hook-shaped leather sofa to port and transom and electric griddle with wet bar facilities to starboard. Out on the bow, accessed via side-decks, there is room for a double-sunpad, while stainless steel, fiberglass and teak brightwork across the exterior provide a touch of undeniable quality.
Into the salon and we find a large, upholstered U-shaped sofa surrounding a teak table, a fitted desk or storage cupboard and walls and floors in seductive dark walnut or light oak tones. The cockpit features a large hydraulic sunroof that provides extra natural light even when closed thanks to quadruple linear skylights, and supreme visibility from the chocolate-colored pilot chairs at helm. Captain your Princess V62 with confidence from this helm station thanks to the use of a comprehensive Furuno-brand piloting package including GPS, chartplotter, depth sounder and more.
There is a good amount of sleeping space below deck, with a full-beam V-berth master stateroom, a below-helm en-suite with room for loveseat and workstation or vanity table, as well as a twin berth to starboard. The below-helm room benefits from the use of four-panelled mullioned windows for views out to sea, while the other below-deck rooms feature sizeable porthole windows. The downstairs also includes a practical galley kitchen with Avonite counters, capacious fridge-freezer, combination microwave and ceramic hob, while a snug dining space sits directly opposite.
Twin MTU 8V or Caterpiller C18 engines roar this vessel to full throttle top speeds of around 36 knots, while use of trim tabs and bow and stern thrusters add an extra level of agility when manoeuvring into tricky marinas or turning at speeds on the high seas. The Princess V62 is also a solid option for extended cruising over long weekends, with a 1705-litre fuel tank, Onan generator and a 500-litre water supply with desalination keeping you well-stocked.
