A sleek, shaft-driven 58-foot sports yacht, the Princess V57 was released to the public in 2012 and remains in production to this day. The yacht’s clean and modern lines will doubtless attract admiring glances as it glides into harbors worldwide, while its extensive entertaining spaces and high-performance speed and agility make it perfect for weekend cruising. Interior spaces, meanwhile, were designed in collaboration with Italian design house and LVMH stable-mates Missoni for a modern and luxurious atmosphere.
Though a compact, hard-top model, the V57 offers plenty of room for al fresco relaxation on a foredeck that is fitted with a modular Movida sunpad, and, in particular, the spacious aft deck. Central to the aft deck’s charms is a raised, three-pad sunbed that sits above a large tender garage, though this teak-lined space is also home to an eight-seater, U-shaped transom sofa with dining table as well as a walk-in wetbar with Avonite or granite counters, a champagne cooler and a Smeg hot-rock barbecue grill. Starboard steps lead down towards a full-beam, hydraulic bathing platform from where you’re swimming and water-sports adventures can begin.
Access to the cockpit saloon is through triple-sliding glass doors that, when opened along with the above-helm retractable sunroof, gives the yacht a truly open-air feel. Here the Missoni touch is very much in evidence, with light Rovere oak, glossy walnut or Serotina cherry cabinetry and walls providing a lavish and sedate atmosphere. There is also the option for the fitting of semi-custom Missoni Home furnishings with chevron upholstery or authentic Italian leather finishes. Though not the biggest cockpit on the market, the saloon is large enough for a comfortable U-shaped sofa and coffee table, storage space to starboard and a pair of black leather piloting seats at the fully-equipped helm station with the latest in Raymarine electronics.
Stair access at the front leads to a generously proportioned below-deck home to two master staterooms and a bunk berth for a total overnight occupancy of 6 guests, with further optional crew space accessible via a transom door. A galley kitchen with sink, fridge and convection oven leads to the bedrooms, with the amidship owner’s stateroom the pick of the bunch. Panoramic trapezoidal windows allow for plenty of natural light and views across the water, while the full-beam dimensions of the cabin allow for a fitted chaise-longue, wardrobe and vanity desk, as well as access to an ensuite with walk-in shower. The V-berth stateroom to bow, meanwhile, boasts a skylight and a pair of elongated porthole windows for a breezy feel, as well as a double bed that can be turned into twins.
The Princess V57 is, however, a sports yacht at heart, and high-performance capabilities run through its very DNA. Twin Volvo diesel engines roar this impressive vessel to top speeds in the range of 36 knots, while agility is ensured through the use of bow and stern thrusters, power steering, Xenta joystick controls and electro-hydraulic trim tabs. Extensive testing on the challenging currents of the English channel prior to launch make this yacht ideal for cruising through blue-water conditions, though the V57 is just as likely to be found making the trip from Monte Carlo to Portofino. A resin-infused, Bernard Olesinski-designed hull with downturned strakes and chines provides plenty of lift and reduced spray for a fun and responsive ride.
