The Princess V55 is a 58-foot sportscruiser yacht that was launched by Princess in 2019 to significant acclaim. The yacht was nominated for the title of “Best Sportscruiser over 40ft” at the 2021 Motor Boat Awards, and has swiftly became one of the Plymouth-based firm’s most popular vessels.
Instead of a flybridge, yachts in the V-class range maximize the amount of outdoor lounge and entertainment space across a single, main-deck level. The Princess V55 boasts a roomy foredeck that includes a Portuguese Bridge sofa as well as a teak coffee table and a five-pad marina-facing sunbed ideal for soaking up the rays. The large, teak-lined aft-deck, meanwhile, takes up around half of the main deck living space and boasts a modular seating area that includes a dramatic double-length sunpad to the rear with a headrest that doubles as the backrest for the adjoining transom sofa. The aft deck also has room for a large outdoor wet bar with an internal fridge, an icemaker and an electric barbecue grill, ideal for outdoor food and drink preparation. To port there is an L-shaped sofa as well as an extending teak table. Side steps lead down towards a full-beam, hydraulic swimming platform where you will also find a tender garage with an electro-hydraulic door and a tender launch system with an electric winch.
Electronic sliding glass doors separate the aft deck from the internal cockpit, though perhaps separate is not the right word to use. A hinged window can be manually retracted to open up the wet-bar to the aft galley, while the sliding glass doors themselves can be hidden away at the touch of a button to provide one seamless and free-flowing living space that has that signature beach club feel. Yet with doors and windows open or closed the internal living space will always feel light and breezy thanks to half-moon wrap-around side windows, a sunroof with mullioned skylights above the helm and a light-toned Princess finish that comes in your choice of rovere, Alba or silver oak. The port side of the sedan-style cockpit features a large and lavish L-shaped sofa and dining table with room for up to 6, while the starboard features a galley with a three-zone hob, stainless steel sink and white Carrara Avonite worktops. The helm station includes two comfortable chairs, joystick controls and a Garmin-brand chartplotter and radar system.
The climate-controlled lower deck has guest space for up to 6 overnight passengers across a twin bunk berth, a master stateroom with a Jack-and-Jill ensuite head and shower, as well as the lavish amidship owner’s stateroom. The owner’s cabin boasts large, curved windows, a king-sized island bed with a pocket-sprung mattress, fitted love seat, cabinet storage and a vanity station. There is also room for a snug crew quarters accessed via a transom door and ladders should you wish to take staff with your on your voyages.
Twin Volvo Penta D13 1000MPH engines can power the Princess V55 to breathtaking top speeds of up to 37 knots, while the use of bow and stern thrusters, trim tabs and a Bernard Olesinski-designed hull provide plenty of balance and agility while on the move. A twin fuel tank system, meanwhile, has enough capacity to hold up to 2200 liters of diesel, more than enough for ambitious jaunts out to the islands of the Mediterranean or Caribbean Seas.
