The Princess V53 is a mid-sized sport yacht some 53 feet in length that was launched to the public in 2005 and is still in production to this day. This yacht features a hardtop-only cockpit, but with a glazed sunroof that automatically retracts so that you can enjoy the sun and the elements from the helm station at the push of a button. A wealth of outdoor space, superb performance and plenty of seating makes this a great option for weekend cruising in sunnier climates.
The V53’s teak-lined aft deck is dominated by a triple-sized leather sun-pad, ideal for sunbathers, which neatly hides a rear tender garage large enough for a range of modern water toys. This space flows freely down to a hydraulic swimming platform, accessed via steps on the port side. A large foredeck also has ample relaxation room, with a double sized modular sunpad fitted at its center. The Princess V53 benefits from a Bose surround sound speaker system throughout the yacht to turn this into vessel into a floating nightclub should you wish to party the night away.
Stepping inside the cockpit, open to the elements at the rear for a breezy feel, there is a large hook-shaped leather sofa that surrounds a teak dining table with settings for six diners. There is also a C-shaped sofa to port, and two piloting chairs at the starboard helm station. The extensive use of curved windows and a single-mullion pane windscreen at the helm means that though this yacht may be a hard-top it almost has the airy feel of an open deck model.
Downstairs guests can rustle up meals in the generously proportioned galley that features an Avonite counter, ceramic hob, microwave and wet bar facilities. Guests who wish to retreat from any unfavorable weather can retreat to the spacious below-deck lounge, where an upholstered U-shaped sofa sits up to seven guests, who can watch their favorite movies on the mounted widescreen TV. Get a great night’s rest in the impressive master V-berth at the bow, where a double island bed can be divided and turned into two twins if needed. There is also room at the rear of this deck for a twin berth and crew quarters, for a maximum overnight occupancy of 6.
Twin Volvo D13 engines offer a top speed of up to 37 knots, while a modified Bernard Olesinski deep vee-hull with a deadrise aft of some 18 degrees keeps this vessel buoyant and stable as it glides smoothly over the waves. The sturdy hull was fabricated out of GRP fibreglass and reinforced with isophtalic resin for increased durability, with a balsa wood and PVC foam core above the waterline. Additional agility as you make your way through inlets and sounds is provided by the use of trim tabs, 95kgf bow thrusters and power-assisted hydraulic steering for a responsive ride.
