The Princess V48 is an award-winning 50-foot sports cruising yacht that was first launched in 2004. The yacht has proven so popular with clients that it is still produced today, with models built after 2013 benefiting from a modern and updated style and Princess’s first use across their fleet of pod-drive Volvo Penta engines.
This mid-sized yacht is built for weekend cruising, and the single level main deck boasts an array of outdoor options. A modular sun-pad on the fore-deck is the ideal space for sun-bathing, while a semi-sheltered aft deck comes with fitted sofa to transom. There is also room beneath the aft deck for a sizeable tender garage that can be lowered into the water from a rear, hydraulic swimming platform.
An impressive main deck salon has panoramic views out of its wrap-around windows and a retractable sunroof for use in warmer and drier climes. The lounge features a large, L-shaped leather sofa to port and is lined in your choice of cherrywood, walnut or teak for a sedate and restrained atmosphere. The V48 also comes in an open cockpit edition, with a free-flowing lounge space that is open to the elements. This version features a large modular sunpad occupying the entirety of the aft-deck for an exquisite sun-bathing experience.
Below-deck guests can retire to two en suite master staterooms each large enough to accommodate double island beds and, in the below-helm suite, a fitted settee. Galley space benefits from an L-shaped sofa, a teak dining table and a kitchenette with a sink and ceramic hob. Newer models also feature a remarkable trapezoidal window to allow for plenty of internal light and low-slung views across the surface of the water. 11kW Onan generators, meanwhile, ensure that all internal space aboard the Princess V48 is climate controlled.
Use of Volvo Penta IPS pod engines on the newer models ensure that this yacht’s resin-infused fibreglass hull can zip across the water at top speeds of up to 34 knots. Older models use shaft-drive propellers and twin Volvo TAMD 75P engines for top speeds of 29 knots. Handling is second to none, with an easy-to-use joystick interface, Bernard Olesinski designed hull and optional bow thrusters providing the agility to turn on a sixpence. Navigational equipment is provided by client choice of Raymarine or Garmin, with all the chartplotting, GPS and radar you need to safely pilot your yacht through a range of conditions. The main-deck helm station has superb visibility across the bow and out of the side windows, while owner operators will always pilot their vessel in supreme comfort thanks to a double-seater, leather captain’s chair.
The Princess V48 has not only met with commercial success since its initial launch, but has been showered with critical acclaim from a host of industry experts. The yacht was awarded the “European Powerboat of the Year” title at the 2014 Festival de la Plaisance de Cannes, and bagged the prize for “Best Sportscruiser over 45 Feet” at the 2015 Motor Boat Awards held in London.
