An updated version of the Princess V62 express-class sports yacht, the V62-S launched in 2012 and is still produced at the Princess yard in Plymouth, England today. The new model differs from the original with the use of contemporary styling, a redesigned profile and upgraded engines. Other changes include a larger transom tender garage capable of accommodating the next generation of water toys; an entirely original, Bernard Olesinski-designed, resin-infused variable deadrise hull for superb balance on the turn; more ergonomic wind-shield windows to the cockpit; a larger salon area; as well as an updated engine air-intake design.
As with the original V62, the Princess V62-S boasts plenty of outdoor space for entertaining, sunbathing or diving into the seas. An elongated foredeck surrounded by extra-high stainless-steel guard-rails features a double-pad sunbed with room for up to four, while at the rear of the vessel there is a large teak-lined aft-deck with a hook-shaped transom sofa, a raised three-seater sunpad on top of a tender garage and steps down towards a full-beam hydraulic swimming platform. There is also a fitted wet-bar and electric grill console to starboard, perfect for mixing your martinis and grilling your catch al-fresco.
Triple-glass sliding doors with stainless steel frames lead seamlessly into an expertly configured cockpit lined with swooping, curved windows, an above-helm skylight and a retractable sunroof for an open and airy feel. Upgraded features on the main deck include the use of wave-cut wood to cabinet doors, upholstered inlay surfaces, high-gloss cherry or light oak walling and carpeting sourced from Princess Yacht’s prestigious partners LVMH. A U-shaped sofa to port provides plenty of room to relax while sheltering from inclement conditions, while a pair of black leather helm seats will keep you comfortable as you use your comprehensive Furuno navigation package to chart a course across the water.
Below-deck there are two ensuite master staterooms, one a V-berth to the bow and another that sits below-helm occupying the full beam of the hull. Here there is room for a king-sized island bed, a work desk or vanity unit and a fitted loveseat, all generously lit with the use of stunning, single-pane trapezoidal windows to port and starboard. A further twin berth and the option of rear crew quarters allow for a total overnight occupancy of up to 7. Also below deck is a second salon area featuring a dining sofa with a teak table and a fully equipped galley with Avonite worktops, a convection oven and a four-zone Bosch hob.
One of the most significant upgrades to the Princess V62-S is the use of next generation engines. While the original model could deliver top speeds above 35 knots, twin Caterpillar C18A or twin MTU 8V 2000 M93 engines fire this new vessel to speeds in excess of 38 knots. At cruising speeds of around 11 knots this vessel has an impressive range of over 700 nautical miles, more than enough to visit your selection of Mediterranean islands or the entirety of the Florida Keys. Variable speed bow and stern thrusters, along with electro-hydraulic trim tabs provide superb agility and stability across a range of open water conditions.
