A 74-foot sportbridge yacht, the Princess S72 was released to the public in 2014 and is still in production to this day. A new venture into the world of sports cruisers for Princess when first launched, the S72 combines the space and amenity of a typical flybridge yacht with the high performance and sleek looks associated with contemporary sports yachts. The S72 has proved to be immensely popular with buyers and critics alike, and bagged the prize for “Best Yacht over 55ft” at the 2015 Motor Boat Awards in London.
The Princess S72 is built for fans of the outdoors and lovers of the sea, boasting a range of luxurious al-fresco deck spaces ideal for sunbathing, lounging or more active, water-based pursuits. The towering open flybridge is large enough to host lavish parties, and comes with a large U-shaped sofa to the rear, a further C-shaped snug sofa, a nifty wet bar console with an electric grill and a pair of helm seats to port that are upholstered in comfortable Firenze leather. One level down and the teak-lined aft deck benefits from a semi-sheltered aspect that accommodates a transom sofa with table, a lofty, three-seater sun-pad that sits atop a spacious tender garage, and a rear, hydraulic bathing platform from which to get your feet wet. Further sunbathing space is also available on the foredeck, which hosts a Portuguese Bridge sofa as well as a modular Movida sunpad.
The cockpit salon opens up to the aft deck thanks to fully extending Trend Marine glass sliding doors, and with double-height windows to port and starboard the interior will always feel light and breezy. Floors and walls come in your choice of wengewood, Serotina cherry or American walnut, with leather surfaces and custom cabinetry a further design highlight. The cockpit salon features a U-shaped side sofa, coffee table and loveseat, along with a pair of Besenzoni helm chairs from which to monitor the yacht’s Furuno electronics system.
Those familiar with the V72’s popular below-deck arrangement may experience deja vu when stepping downstairs aboard the Princess S72, as the layout has been replicated. An amidship master stateroom with chaise-longue, workstation and king-sized island bed dominates this level, and comes with an ensuite lined in marble and Venetian mosaic tile. A further ensuite twin berth to starboard, an ensuite master V-berth to bow as well as a galley kitchen and crew quarters accessed via a transom door round out the bottom deck features for a total overnight occupancy of 8 guests and staff.
The Princess S72 is a truly exhilarating ride, with top speeds of a rip-roaring 40 knots achieved thanks to a pair of Caterpillar C32A or MAN V12-1800 engines. Variable speed bow and stern thrusters from Side Power offer that extra level of agility when in marina settings, while a TRAC Star fin stabilization system offers surety at rest and reduced roll when on the move. The Bernard Olesinski-designed deep-V hull, meanwhile, cuts through waves with ease and provides best in class balance on the turn. The Princess 72 Flybridge, V72, and S72 gives buyers plenty of options in this particular length range and class.
