The Princess F45 is a 46-foot flybridge motoryacht that was first unveiled to the public at the 2019 Boat Düsseldorf exhibition. Conceived as the successor yacht to the popular Princess 42, the F45 is only the second yacht in the Princess Flybridge range to feature new internal pod drive Volvo IPS engines for greater fuel efficiency, superb handling and reduced noise and vibration on the move. Yet the innovation does not stop there. An entirely new resin-infused deep-V hull designed by Bernard Olesinski is super slick on the water, while a segmented fiberglass superstructure with ergonomic curves and knife-insert glazing that wraps around the hull and the entire bow makes this one of the most modern yachts Princess has ever produced.
The comfortable and compact flybridge on this yacht features a U-shaped rear sofa that surrounds a teak dining table, with a wet-bar console and grill, as well as an L-shaped cockpit snug sofa to port. On the starboard side there are a pair of leather helm chairs and a full set of upper helm controls shielded from spray thanks to a curving Venturi windscreen.
One level down and you will find a three-pad Movida sunbed on the spacious foredeck, ideal for marina-facing sunbathing or for snapping dramatic Instagram pics while accelerating through the waves. The aft deck, meanwhile, includes a corner chair, an L-shaped transom sofa, an extending teak table and side steps down to a full-beam, hydraulic swimming platform. There is also room at the transom for inflatable storage, while the swimming platform has been cleverly scalloped to provide room to safely stow a dinghy.
Electronic sliding glass doors lead directly into the aft galley with glossy Carrara white worktops, a 3-zone hob, combination microwave, stainless steel sink, and twin refrigerator. Angled cabinetry, meanwhile, makes the most of the limited internal space to offer further storage space throughout the cockpit. A couple of steps up leads you to the forward salon, where there is a U-shaped dining sofa and a loveseat, while to the front of the cockpit there is the lower helm station with a pair of pewter leather chairs and steps to the below-deck sleeping quarters. All internal spaces aboard the F45 are treated to the classic Princess styling, with the options of Rovere, Silver and Alba oak surrounds, walnut and teak floors, hand-stitched upholstery and authentic leather surfaces. The vessel also benefits from an integrated Naim Atom audio system for the playing of your favorite tunes and perhaps even a few sea shanties.
The lower deck on the Princess F45 boasts two ensuite staterooms for a total overnight occupancy of four guests. The amidship owner’s stateroom is full beam with enough room for a vanity station, a loveseat and pair of closets. The stateroom to the bow benefits from wraparound glazing for spectacular views and plenty of natural light.
The Princess F45 features the sort of drive and handling one would expect from a sports yacht, and its performance really highlights the benefits of utilising internal propulsion engines. Top speeds of up to 31 knots come courtesy of twin Volvo IPS 600 440MPH engines, and these efficient pod drives will burn slowly though the yacht’s 1,300 liter fuel tank. Use of Garmin electronics, a Volvo joystick and power-assisted steering makes this vessel a joy to command, while Volvo Interceptor trim-tabs and bow thrusters keep the yacht balanced and agile on the move.
