An 83-foot open-flybridge motor yacht, the Princess 82MY, also known as the Y82, was launched in 2013 and is no longer being offered by the Princess shipyard in Plymouth, England. The yacht boasts a sleek and graceful superstructure that is fitted to a Bernard Olesinski-designed variable deadrise hull for a vessel that is as stylish as it is seaworthy. It can still be found on the brokerage market.
Along with the rest of the exterior deck space, the flybridge is lined in light washed teak that looks great and will stand up to the worst saltwater conditions that the sea can throw at it. The port side of the flybridge is a sprawling seating space that includes a large sunpad, a U-shaped sofa with solid teak dining table and a further L-shaped sofa next to the central helm station. A further L-shaped sofa to starboard backs up against a walk-in wet-bar with sink, icemaker, champagne cooler and outdoor electric barbecue grill, with barstools for up to four. Space at the rear of the flybridge can be used for extra seating or dinghy storage, while some owners take advantage of this extended area to install an open-air spa-pool for al-fresco bathing. The flybridge can be fitted with a Bimini top to shelter you from rain and sun, while there is also the option of installing a hardtop over the upper helm station.
One level down and the outdoor options are just as extensive. The foredeck features a beige Movida sunbed with headrests as well as a fitted Portuguese bridge sofa, while the semi-sheltered aft-deck is big enough to create that elusive beach-club feel usually only the preserve of much larger vessels. Here you will find a transom sofa, a nifty wet-bar and grill console, along with teak-lined steps down to a full-beam swimming platform that is one of the largest you will find on a yacht of this size.
Triple sliding glass doors lead you inside towards a spacious cockpit salon, lined in gorgeous Alba Oak with walnut cabinetry, boasting seating space for 12 across two white leather sofas with a formal dining space to port. The kitchen galley is partitioned off so you can prepare your meals without disrupting guests, and boasts a Porso Avorio granite worktop, four-zone hob, convection oven and American-style fridge-freezer. There is a further C-shaped sofa close to the helm station, where you can keep an eye on your Raymarine navigational equipment from the comfort of a dark leather piloting seat.
Vast below-deck accommodation includes three master staterooms and a twin berth for up to eight overnight guests, while rear crew quarters accessible via a transom door provides separate living space for two. The amidship master stateroom features two walk-in closets, a large ensuite, a pair of seats to starboard and a workstation to port, while all other guest rooms are also ensuite with plenty of storage. Bathrooms features gleaming Bianco Gioia marble floors and surfaces, with showers panelled in Venetian mosaic. A good night’s rest is ensured thanks to the use of TRAC star fin stabilizers on the Princess 82 MY, which provide zero-speed stability and roll control at cruising speeds.
Hydraulic bow and stern thrusters keep this yacht agile and responsive when on the move, while twin Caterpillar C32A or twin MTU M94 diesel inboard engines can provide top speeds in the range of 33 knots. Extensive testing on the English Channel prior to launch means that the Princess 82 MY is a great option for those who like to take to the high seas and cruise in genuine bluewater conditions.
