An open-top, flybridge motoryacht nearly 79 feet in length, the Princess 78 was launched in 2009 and has proven so popular with the Princess client base that it is still produced to this day.
Lovers of open-air cruising will be drawn to the soaring flybridge perched atop this sporty yacht, where two leather piloting chairs are positioned at an upper-helm station with all the latest gadgetry and electronics. Owner operators need not miss out on entertaining while steering their yacht from the flybridge, as this teak-lined deck space also boasts a leather, U-shaped sofa fitted around a teak dining table, a sunbathing space to rear that can be fitted with a jacuzzi, and a handy wet bar and electric griddle station from which you can mix drinks, grill shrimp and hold forth. The flybridge also includes space for dinghy storage below the radar station for those who like to keep extra water toys aboard their vessel.
One level below and there is an expansive foredeck with double Movida sunpads towards the bow and a recessed, Portuguese bridge sofa in front of the cockpit. Amble down the generously proportioned side decks back towards the aft deck, where you will find an upholstered transom sofa, steps down to a full-beam swimming platform with remote-controlled passarelle and a large tender garage that can also be refitted as a snug for crew.
The main-deck cockpit benefits from dynamic, angular windows stretching across the entire superstructure offering stunning glimpses out to sea, as well as triple-glazed, Italian sliding-glass doors to the rear for plenty of natural light. The salon is large enough for a 6-seater U-shaped sofa, teak coffee table and loveseat, with a retractable HD television fitted into spacious side storage cupboards. One step up and you will discover a formal dining area, a further sofa and a semi-enclosed helm station. There is also a fully sized kitchen galley here, with granite or marble worktops, a 4-zone ceramic hob, convection oven and American style fridge-freezer. The whole cockpit is lined in silver loop carpeting or light oak flooring, with glazed Serotina cherrywood or glossy walnut walls, as well as polished composite and stainless-steel fixtures throughout.
Below deck, spaces benefit from port hole windows and, in the en-suite below-helm master stateroom, large, mullioned windows to port and starboard. Bathrooms have the option of marble counters and mosaic-lined walls and are fitted with shower cubicles and basins with mixer-taps. There is a total overnight occupancy for up to 8 guests across the four guest cabins, with further optional space for up to two members of crew.
Twin Caterpillar C32A engines power this yacht to swift top speeds of 35 knots, while a fuel capacity of over 5600 litres ensures that the Princess 78 can stay on the water for days on end. Bow and stern thrusters, trim-tabs and a durable Bernard Olesinski-designed hull ensure that this yacht is both lightweight and agile as it glides across the waters, while extensive sea-trial testing by the Princess team on the turbulent waters of the English Channel make this a superb choice for genuine bluewater cruising.
