Originally launched in 2001 with production continuing through to 2006, the Princess 61 is a 61-foot yacht that remains popular on the used and charter markets. Constructed with a fibreglass monohull and superstructure boasting a generous beam of 16 feet, like all Princess launches the 61 has been extensively tested on the challenging waters of the English Channel.
The wealth of outdoor space aboard this yacht immediately marks it out as a superb option for entertaining. An open fly-bridge with a hi-tech helm station and a raised radar tower features a double-sized, sublimely upholstered piloting chair and a U-shaped leather sun-lounger with elevated 360 degree views. A non-slip foredeck extends out to bow and is fitted with a modular living space designed with sunbathers in mind, while a sheltered, teak-lined aft deck leads on to a full-beam swimming platform at transom. The Princess 61 is also designed in a walk-around style, providing easy access to all outdoor spaces.
The climate-controlled interior is just as spacious, with a full kitchen and wet bar galley adjoining a formal five-seater dining space that is designed for hosting. The separate main deck salon flows freely towards the aft deck and is big enough to include an entertainment center with an HD Television-Fusion speaker combo and a pair of leather, L-shaped side sofas, along with a teak coffee table. Refined accents such as cherry wood panelling, fine marquetry, Venetian blinds and stainless steel fixtures give this interior a sedate feel, while widescreen windows and skylights provide plenty of natural luminosity. There is also an additional helm station cockpit on the main deck with enough visibility to see clearly beyond the bow. This helm station is equipped with everything you need to navigate the oceans safely, including Furuno GPS, a Raytheon Depth Sounder and a solid teak steering wheel.
On the lower level there is accommodation for up to 8 passengers across three en-suite staterooms and crew quarters. The full-beam master stateroom is large enough for a fitted desk to starboard and a King-sized island bed, while water-tight porthole windows keep below-deck spaces from feeling cramped.
Princess 61 yachts come with twin, sound-proofed MAN D2848 engines and an Onan generator fitted as standard, with Volvo D12 engines available as an optional upgrade. Typical top speeds clock in at well over 30 knots, while at cruising speeds of 21 knots the vessel boasts a range of 640 nautical miles. This vessel is as nimble as it is powerful, benefiting from shaftdrive propellers and powerful rudders that provide incredibly responsive handling on the turn and while accelerating.
