The Princess 57 is a 58-foot Flybridge motoryacht that was produced at Princess’s Plymouth shipyard from 2003 to 2006, and is still a popular option, especially among the charter yacht scene. A classic Bernard Olesinski design provides a touch of elegance, marrying sinuous European lines with a North American-style durability. This yacht is all about maximising the outdoor cruising experience, with an extra-long open flybridge providing the perfect place to both entertain guests and pilot your yacht.
The remarkable flybridge is lined in weather-proofed teak floors and gel-coated composite surrounds, and features a twin set of leather captain’s chairs at the upstairs controls. A tinted, low-slung windshield provides protection from any spray you may encounter, keeping you dry as you command your helm station, while a detachable Bimini soft-top roof can be hoisted in place in no time at all should you encounter inclement weather. There is enough space on top this towering piece of naval architecture for a hook-shaped fitted sofa capable of seating up to twelve guests, making this a great yacht on which to host outdoor celebrations.
There is still further outdoor space. A prominent foredeck, lined with high stainless-steel guardrails, can be fitted with a modular sun-pad to increase the amount of relaxation room aboard this vessel. A rear aft deck, meanwhile, leads down to a full-beam swimming platform to transom for those who like to get their feet wet. This swimming platform also doubles as convenient storage for water tenders, being big enough to host an Evinrude dinghy. The Princess 57 can also be fitted with a surround-sound Bose speaker system throughout to turn this yacht into a floating dancehall.
On the internal main deck there is room for two large U-shaped sofas, one at starboard and another to port. A set of two further upholstered seats, a teak coffee table and a dining table provide plenty of room for morning espresso, afternoon aperitifs, or perhaps steak and lobster cooked on the galley’s ceramic grill. Below deck space has been smartly configured to fit in two en suite master staterooms with island beds, as well as a twin guest berth and rear crew quarters, for a surprisingly ample total occupancy of 8.
The Princess 57 is a joy to ride, with high performance twin D12 Volvo Diesel engines providing a top speed of 36 knots and a deep-V fibreglass hull that features prop pockets to keep the draft down. Powerful bow thrusters, meanwhile, ensure that the yacht can draw on extra agility when gliding into tricky marina settings, and 4 bladed Aquafoil propellers in nickel-aluminium bronze offer enhanced acceleration. The yacht’s two helm stations feature power-assisted hydraulic steering, Furuno electronics and all the GPS and chart-plotting systems you need for a safe and reliable journey.
