The Princess 43, also called the F43, is a 47-foot, entry-level flybridge sports yacht that was launched to the public in 2013 and remains in production to this day. This sleek and spry yacht has proved incredibly popular with buyers and critics alike, with dozens of models sold per year and the vessel bagging the prize for “Best Flybridge Under 55ft” at the 2014 Motor Boat Awards held in London.
A flybridge with an optional Bimini top is the best place aboard to soak up the rays and comes with a rear U-shaped leather sofa with a teak table located beneath the radar station, a further L-shaped settee, twin helm seats to port and a wet-bar console with an electric barbecue grill. Port steps down, enclosed with oversized stainless-steel handrails, lead down to a swish aft-deck with a curved, U-shaped transom sofa, an extending teak table and a rear hydraulic swimming platform. There is also space on the foredeck for a modular Movida sunpad should you wish to sunbathe out towards the bow and snap dramatic pics for Instagram while on the move.
Should the weather force you indoors you will find a lavish cockpit salon lined in Serotina cherry or Walnut with loop taupe carpeting that benefits from swooping windows for plenty of natural light. A large, L-shaped sofa upholstered in porcelain leather and a further loveseat provide plenty of space to relax and catch up with friends. A recessed galley kitchenette towards the helm boasts a midnight black Avonite countertop with a 3-zone Trident hob, a Sharp convection oven and a Waeco fridge-freezer, more than large enough to prepare 3-course meals for your guests.
Below-deck accommodation has been cleverly arranged to fit in two guest berths for 4 overnight guests including an ensuite master at the bow. This snug but spacious room features an island double-bed, storage space, oval porthole windows and a skylight to keep the space light-filled and airy. The master ensuite, meanwhile, is finished with Avonite tops and glossy oak, with mosaic tiles in the shower head, and boasts refined fixtures such as a Perrin & Rowe sink and a powerful Hansgrohe faucet. The second cabin is typically laid out to include twin beds and its ensuite doubles as a main passenger head.
Many owners prefer to command the helm station themselves to steer this compact yacht through some of the most pristine waters on the globe, and pilots can confidently chart a course thanks to the use of either a comprehensive Garmin or Raymarine electronics package. Sportscar-like handling and agility comes courtesy of a Bernard Olesinski deep-V variable deadrise hull, bow and stern thrusters, power-assisted electronic steering with hydraulic back-up, a Side Power joystick and trim-tab controls. Originally fitted with twin Volvo D6 engines, the Princess 43 can also be upgraded with the option of dual Volvo D9 or Cummins QSB engines for top speeds reaching a smooth 31 knots. With a fuel capacity of over 360 gallons, meanwhile, there is plenty in the tank for long-range voyages at lower cruising speeds.
