The Prestige 500 Fly is a 49.10-foot pod-driven flybridge motor yacht first launched by the French shipyard in Düsseldorf to great acclaim in 2011. This model is one of the Groupe Beneteau-owned brand’s most iconic models, having won more awards than any other 50-footer worldwide, sweeping up accolades such as ‘Best Interior Design’ at Cannes, ‘Best Motor Yacht’ in Milan, and ‘Best of the Best’ by the Robb Report. On this vessel, space is maximized through sensitive design and hi-tech innovation: the 500 was one of the first boats to use aeronautical engine technology, placing the engines in an engine gondola to increase space in the cabins. In addition to a salon dining area, this yacht features two al fresco dining areas in the aft cockpit and up on the flybridge. The foredeck offers more sunbathing options, with a massive sunpad perfect for lounging under an optional fitted bimini. An optional tender garage and hydraulic swim platform are also offered on this model.
The flybridge is, of course, the most notable entertainment space on the yacht. Accessed from a portside staircase in the aft cockpit, the flybridge features a rounded L-shaped seating area with a chic trapezoidal table facing toward the immense sunpad to the right of the helm station. The upper helm itself is well-equipped, near-identical to the main helm and secured from the elements by a windscreen.
Stepping through the cockpit into the main-deck living area, you are first greeted by a generous but unobtrusive open kitchen with modern wood cabinetry, white Corian counter tops, a galley island, a built-in fridge-freezer, a three-burner stove and oven, and storage space throughout. The salon doors open up the cockpit to the galley, creating a free flowing, sociable atmosphere. Light tones enhanced by white blinds, carpet, and upholstery mingle sedately with the soft, natural light let in by the windows that wrap continuously around the boat.
Just forward, you’ll find the surprisingly separate feeling living and dining room, with three comfortable settees facing one another in a convivial layout with a folding dining table for indoor meals and intimate gatherings. The helm is positioned just forward and starboard, with a bench-seat for two. The helm is equipped with two Raymarine panels for navigation and monitoring, engine throttles and maneuvering joystick, full engine instrumentation, compass, cupholders and USB plugs.
Accommodation is below deck. Owners will appreciate the privacy and home comfort of a separately accessed amidships master suite, which features a double bed, bedside tables and reading lamps, a dressing table and vanity desk, each with their own mirror and seating, and panoramic side windows with blinds and opening ports. The ensuite bathroom features a separate shower and sink with countertop.
The VIP suite is also well-provided for, with a double bed (these can be converted into twin berths), large closet, side windows and opening ports for ventilation, an opening deck hatch with a shade, and an ensuite bathroom with separate shower. Between the owner’s and VIP cabins is a versatile guest room with twin beds that slide together to create a double bed when needed. This cabin has dual access to the VIP ensuite, which also functions as a day head.
The 500 Fly is equipped with two Volvo IPS 600 D6 435hp engines, with top speeds of 28 knots, but this boat is for cruising unhurriedly at about 24 knots, taking your time as you glide by.
