The Prestige 420 Fly is a 42-foot family cruiser yacht with a flybridge that was launched by the renowned French yacht-building firm Prestige in 2020. A reinvention of the popular 420 model from over half a decade earlier, this new model boasts a slick profile from naval stylists Garroni Design, sedate interiors and powerful new V-drive engines. Marketed as a “pocket superyacht”, the Prestige 420 was an instant hit with industry insiders, winning the title for “Best Flybridge” in its class at the 2021 Motorboat Awards and bagging the “Best for Family” prize at the 2020 Best of Boats awards held in Cannes.

Masterful use of space up on the teak-lined flybridge makes this elevated, al-fresco deck look and feel much larger than it is. By shifting the helm station and steps to port Prestige have opened up the entire starboard side of the bridge for a sprawling lounge space comprising a forward double sunpad, an L-shaped sofa with an angular cocktail table to aft and a wet-bar console with a grill and a chiller between the two. Down on the main-deck there is a double sunpad out on the foredeck with marina-facing views and an aft-cockpit with an L-shaped transom dining sofa with a table and side steps down to a full-beam, teak-lined hydraulic bathing platform.
Sliding glass doors to the rear of the salon fully open up to connect the aft galley to the cockpit for easy food and drink service. The walk-in port-side galley features dark granite-effect work surfaces, Fortezza flooring, a stainless-steel sink, Miele appliances, a hob and pale oak cabinets, with fridge-freezer units and a wine cooler directly across to starboard. Further forward there is a carpeted salon with Foglizzo leather-clad steel railings, glazed panels, an upholstered loveseat and a U-shaped sofa with an extending breakfast table, all wonderfully lit thanks to generous side glazing. The main-deck helm, meanwhile, features Raymarine display screens, thruster controls, engine monitors, a joystick, VHF radio and all of the essentials needed for confident coastal cruising.
On the climate-controlled, soundproofed lower-deck there are a pair of staterooms sharing a single lower-head with a shower. Each cabin features a large double bed, cabinetry and knife-insert windows, while a separate walk-in closet that provides ample storage can be substituted for a second lower-deck bathroom.
A pair of Cummins QSB 6.7 V-drive diesel engines provide top speeds of 30 knots, while at cruising speeds of 22 knots you can expect a hearty range of 210 nautical miles.
