The Lazzara 76 is a superb 76-foot cruiser produced by renowned Florida-based yacht firm Lazzara Yachts between 1992 and 2002. Designed by Dick Lazzara himself, this bold and beautiful boat has soft, Euro-style curves and plenty of room for friends and family with a five-stateroom, six-head layout. Over the course of a decade, 48 hulls were produced, some with the wide-body deckhouse option or a luxe skylounge, while some buyers opted for both. Twenty years later, this stunning vintage model retains all its stately elegance and smooth handling. Ideal for long distance cruises, the 76 continues to be a top choice on the used and charter markets.
The generous swim platform which Lazzara calls a ‘sport deck’ features a jet-ski storage pod to starboard, accessed via a hydraulically operated door. A dive locker to port, also opened hydraulically, allows owners to store scuba and other gear. A recessed swim ladder invites users to bathe in the sea, while a hot and cold freshwater shower is also on hand to wash the salty sea out of your hair. Two sets of stairs to port and starboard lead up to the sizeable cockpit, sheltered from the heat of the sun by the flybridge overhang.
An expansive salon boasts two plush facing settees aft of a more formal dining area which features a circular table and six chairs. A banquet cabinet with mirror panels reflects light and give an even more expansive sense of space. Large windows surround this space, allowing in natural light. A forward day head is situated near the stairs to the flybridge. To port, you’ll find a large separate galley equipped with ample storage, a full-size refrigerator and freezer, an oven with stovetop, a microwave/convection oven, and a large sink. An L-shaped settee sits to starboard near the lower helm, allowing guests to interact with the captain.
The lower helm features excellent sightlines thanks to a three-panel windshield. A double-wide helm seat and a stylish helm console with heaps of space for installing updated electronics and navigation equipment. A portside door allows access to the walkaround decks (if you go for this option). A set of stairs leads up to the flybridge. Nearby, a circular staircase leads to the full-beam owner’s suite below deck, which features a king-sized bed and timeless joinery. Two further staterooms boast queen beds and en suite bathrooms.
A starboard companionway on the aft cockpit leads to the flybridge, one of the standout features on this yacht. There are several configurations for this area, from an open bridge with a hardtop or an open bridge with a Euro Arch, each of which feature plush settees for lounges, dining tables, a grill, a fridge-freezer, wet bar, and upper helm. A Sky Lounge option is also available, with an enclosed fixed glass pilot house and a single upper helm, which opens up space for a country kitchen on the main deck. A further, more luxurious options, is the Cabriolet Sky Lounge model, which merges a salon with the steering station, stylish electric sliding front windshields, and a rear window with manual slide back side windows.
By situating the standard twin 1,134-horsepower MTU V-12 inboard diesel engines below the aft deck, Lazzara has ensured that users will enjoy a smooth, quiet ride. At full throttle, these engines reach top speeds of nearly 30 knots and a seamless 20-knot cruising speed that emits a near-noiseless 65 dBA at the helm.
