The Galeon 480 Fly is a 47-foot luxury flybridge yacht that was launched by the Polish boat-building company Galeon Yachts at the 2024 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Representing a new phase in this brand’s evolution, the 480 Fly boasts a sleek Tony Castro-designed profile with sharp angles, vibrant lines and reams of glass for a cutting-edge look and feel. Deck space has been maximized with a free-flowing layout, fold-out bulwarks and structural overhangs to give guests the sense of a much bigger vessel, while wicked propulsion adds a sense of primal power to at-sea performance levels.
The low-slung flybridge offers a discreet and fully open-air elevated space to soak up the rays, with a dramatic space to aft that seems to defy gravity to float high above the aft-deck. Spread out on a stylish L-shaped sofa to aft, mix your drinks and grill your lobster tails at a starboard wet-bar, and enjoy feasts at a U-shaped sofa that wraps around a timber-lined dining table. Also available up here is an outdoor helm for the ultimate in elemental piloting with room for a captain and a companion.
Down on the foredeck there’s a C-shaped sofa with a table that can be lowered into place to transform this area into one sprawling sunpad. Head to the rear to discover a Beach Mode ready for the summer sun, where a pair of flip-down bulwarks fold out and hang mere feet above the water as floating terraces to dramatically expand the space in the teak-lined aft-deck. Also on offer back here is a curved transom sofa that both hugs a dining table and hangs over the transom wall itself. Side steps lead down to a full-beam hydraulic swim platform with a boarding ladder, a stern-side wet-bar with a barbecue grill and sports locker storage for your Seabobs.
There’s a strong connection between the briny outdoors and the sedate main-deck salon thanks to a set of sliding glass doors that fully open up and two retractable window panes on either side to let the breeze flow in. On the port-side this window connects the aft-galley to a flip-down serving bar and a pair of hidden bar stools exploiting the extra space out on the side terrace. The galley comes with marble-lined worktops, an induction hob, a combination oven and plenty of refrigeration to keep your refreshments cool. Elsewhere in the salon there’s a pair of side seats and a U-shaped dining sofa with a table. Interiors treatments present a subdued and neutral vibe with grey eucalyptus surrounds, muted upholstery tones, steel accents and plush crème carpeting. At the front of this level there is a helm station to starboard that features two Raymarine display screens, thruster controls, power-steering and a mounted compass.
A convenient and spacious three-stateroom and two-head layout on the lower-deck makes this the ideal watercraft for multi-day trips with friends and family. A bunk-berth and a VIP double with a queen and full-height closets share a forward bathroom, but it’s the amidship master cabin that steals the headlines down here. Full-beam dimensions, expansive hull glazing, a side sofa and a work-desk share the space with a queen-sized island bed, a capacious cupboard and a modern en-suite with a waterfall shower cubicle.
A pair of 600HP Volvo Penta D8 shaft-drive motors propel the 480 Fly to top speeds of up to 30 knots at full-throttle, while at a 22-knot cruising speed you can expect a range of around 250 nautical miles in ideal conditions thanks to dual 198 US gallon fuel tanks.
