The Azimut Magellano 25 Metri is an 82-foot trawler-style explorer yacht that was launched by the Italian boat building firm in 2020. An updated version of the ever-popular Magellano-class cruising yacht and the line’s new flagship, the 25 Metri benefits from a second-generation double-chine, Dual Mode, semi-displacement hull designed by Pierluigi Ausonio for superb long-distance seakeeping. Other upgrades include the extensive use of lightweight carbon-tech lamination across the superstructure, innovative, hi-tech amenities, an extended flybridge, and a beautiful retro exterior from the studio of naval stylist Ken Freivokh that vividly recalls yachting’s golden age.
The Magellano 25 Metri’s tapering flybridge extends all the way over the aft deck for a much greater sense of space, and there is room up on this teak-lined bridge for a U-shaped sofa, dining table, a standalone wet bar with a timber serving platform and an al-fresco helm station. The rear of the bridge is wide open and large enough to install an optional sunpad, with only guard-rails standing between you and some of the finest sea views you will ever encounter.
One level down and you will find a pair of L-shaped sofas on the foredeck, snugly enclosed by raised bulwarks, while out on the aft deck there are a pair of conversation sofas, a further wet bar, a glass infinity-terrace transom panel and side steps down to a full-beam, hydraulic swimming platform that extends out to turn into a beach-club. You will also find a spacious tender garage down here, large enough to host your choice of modern water toys. Azimut Yachts made excellent charter vessels, as well as privately owned yachts for cruising and entertaining.
Interiors are the work of De Cotiis Architects and present a sumptuous space in lacquered walnut, brushed Verde Alpi marble, polished brass, curved fiberglass and plush Loro Piana fabrics. The artful use of smooth edges and geometric inserts creates a free-flowing, contemporary salon with room for bespoke, angled sofas, a trapezoidal dining table and a forward kitchen galley and dinette with a side-deck access door and unobstructed views out across the bow. The main helmstation, meanwhile, is positioned in a raised wheelhouse for increased visibility. All internal spaces aboard the yacht benefit from the use of a BCOOL air-conditioning system, an innovation based on technology first pioneered by NASA. The BCOOL system constantly circulates air throughout the cabins, stabilising temperatures, regulating humidity and removing harmful micro-organisms from the atmosphere for an alpine-fresh feel.
Lower-deck accommodation takes advantage of this yacht’s generous proportions to provide three double staterooms and a triple bunk berth for up to 9 overnight guests. The amidship owner’s stateroom is a full-beam work of art, large enough for a walk-in closet, a marble-clad en-suite with a pair of lover’s sinks, a starboard loveseat and a king-sized island bed. There is also room towards the bow for three members of crew should you need assistance on your journeys.
The Magellano 25 Metri benefits from a pair of MAN V12 engines with V-Drive in-line transmission for impressive top speeds in the range of 25 knots. The engines are connected to flexible, elastic couplings for reduced noise and vibration, while acoustic floating floors and lithium-ion batteries in lieu of generators further enhance what is always a rare quality aboard a yacht: blissful silence. Humphree Active Trim Control provides extra agility while steering your vessel, while a fuel tank holding 8,000 litres of diesel will take you far and wide as you navigate the seven seas in this game-changing, luxury passage-maker.
