The Azimut 98 is a 100-foot luxury flybridge yacht with a sleek and sporty profile that was produced by the Italian boat building firm between 2002 and 2009. Nicknamed the “Leonardo”, this yacht boasts elegant proportions designed by Stefano Righini and a tasteful interior by Carlo Galeazzi that Da Vinci himself would doubtlessly delight over.
The flybridge is available as an open-top, al-fresco space with a Bimini, or can be fitted with a hard-top and retractable sunroof should you wish for protection from sun and rain. Towards the rear there is a lounge space with recliners, a modular sunpad and a spa-pool jacuzzi, while positioned forwards there is a walk-in wet-bar with a grill, an L-shaped sofa with a teak coffee table, a helm sofa and an upper helm station.
One level down and you will find a Portuguese bridge-style sofa with a breakfast table out on the foredeck, facing a three-seater sunpad towards the bow. The aft deck boasts a transom sofa with a table and side steps down to a large, hydraulic swimming platform and a spacious tender garage. A circular atrium with a round dining table and a side wet-bar connects the aft-deck to the salon, where you will discover side sofas, armchairs and a dividing wall-panel hosting a mounted UHD TV. Bearing in mind that the cockpit is designed to open up to the breezy aft deck, Carlo Galeazzi has laid the salon floor in stripped teak for a stylish and durable feel, while light oak surrounds, Cordovan leather sofas, a stainless-steel staircase up to the bridge and upholstered wall panels provide a sedate atmosphere. Curved side windows, meanwhile, have been designed in a wave-like shape and provide plenty of natural light as well as stunning views. Towards the front there is a raised and enclosed pilothouse with Raymarine controls and a piloting sofa should you wish to command your vessel safe from any inclement weather you may encounter.
The main galley kitchen on the Azimut 98 is located below-deck for private food preparation. It is equipped with the finest Miele appliances, zinc worktops, a dumb-waiter to the main-deck and a compact dinette with bar-style seating. You will also discover three en suite double staterooms and an en suite twin berth down here for up to eight overnight guests, as well as crew space for three located near the roomy engine room. The full-beam master stateroom is a luxurious amidship retreat that boasts panoramic, four-paned mullioned side windows, a king-sized island bed, an armchair, a walk-in closet, and a marble-clad bathroom with a sauna-style shower. The other bedrooms are just as generously appointed, and thankfully boast plenty of head clearance.
Two MTU V16 2000 M92 inboard engines roar the Azimut 98 to top speeds of around 32 knots, with cruising speeds clocking in at around 26 knots. A fuel tank holding almost 11,000 litres of diesel should keep you at sea for weeks on end as you cruise to some of the most prestigious coastal destinations in the world, while a modified V-hull as well as hydraulic bow and stern thrusters make this a nimble and agile ride.
