The Azimut 62S is a 62-foot sports-cruiser yacht that was launched by the Avigliana, Italy-based boat building firm back in 2006. The third S-class boat produced by Azimut after the popular 68S and 86S, this speedy and sporty vessel was an immediate hit with critics, who loved the yacht’s sleek design, high-performance and luxury amenity. The 62S bagged the title for “Croatian Boat of the Year” at the 2006 Yachts Adriatic Awards, the award for “European Boat of the Year” at the 2007 Dusseldorf Boat Show as well as the prize for “Motor Boat of the Year 2007”, an award handed out by the Technical Committee of Prestigious English Magazines.
The lack of a flybridge on this model lowers the overall center-of-gravity for a stable ride and a low-slung profile with great aerodynamics and bullet-like looks. There is also plenty of outdoor living space across the main deck, including a triple-pad sunbed with headrests on the foredeck, a C-shaped dining sofa with a teak table or a raised sunpad on the open-air aft cockpit, as well as a hydraulic swimming platform at the stern with a rear tender garage. Internal living spaces are the work of Carlo Galeazzi, and superbly complement the swooping side windows of the Stefano Righini-designed superstructure. Interior treatments are clean and minimalist, with contemporary furnishings in Italian leather or upholstery, floors in stripped teak or wenge, cabinets in dark timber and paneling in polished fiberglass. There is an L-shaped sofa with a loveseat to port, as well as storage space and a wet-bar facility to starboard, while up front you will find a handsome helm station with bespoke leather piloting seats. The cockpit benefits from a glazed sunroof that opens the entire space up to the elements, while rear sliding glass doors neatly disappear to provide a single-level living space with a breezy feel.
Lower deck living space features a VIP double en suite to the bow, a port-side en suite twin, and a full-beam owner’s stateroom with an angled queen-sized bed, a pair of armchairs, a walk-in closet and an en suite with a sauna-style shower. There is also a generously proportioned galley down here, stocked with a Techimpex four-zone electric hob, a Weclo grill, a Gaggenau dishwasher, Raritan icemaker and a Vitfrigo fridge, while worktops are in stainless steel. Downstairs rooms benefit from plenty of natural light, thanks to knife-insert windows near the bow, numerous elongated portholes, and a six-pane mullioned window on either side of the owner’s stateroom. There are few interior layouts as perfect for entertaining guests on a long weekend than you will find in today's Azimut Yachts for sale.
Twin 1,015MHP Caterpillar C18 diesel inboard engines provide top speeds in excess of 33 knots, with slower cruising of 20 knots offering a range of 260 nautical miles. Acceleration is beyond impressive, with zero to 30 knots in as little as 24 seconds, while triple spray rails each side of the keel provide lift on the turn, reduce drag and assist with directional stability. Hydraulic steering at the helm station, along with trim-tab controls, bow and stern thrusters, joystick handling and a Sea Energy and Raymarine navigation system provide superb agility and chart-plotting whatever conditions you may encounter.
