The Azimut Atlantis 54 is a 54-foot sports cruiser motoryacht that was launched by Azimut in 2009. Though no longer produced as new by the Italian boat builders, this stylish and speedy yacht remains a popular option on the used and charter markets for its stylish exterior, high-performance handling and a level of luxury that most express cruisers cannot match.
The single-level main deck on this yacht is fitted to a gel-coated hard-chine planing hull with a variable deadrise that makes for swift and agile turning on the move. Out on the elongated foredeck there is a long sunpad with room for up to three sunbathers to luxuriate in the summer rays for hours on end, safely enclosed by high stainless-steel guardrails. A quick walk along the side decks leads back towards a teak-lined aft cockpit that is open to the elements but comes fitted with a Bimini top should you wish for shade and shelter. There is a rear sofa with a headrest that connects to a rear-facing sunpad that extends out across the stern. Side steps then lead down to a full-beam, fully hydraulic swimming platform that can be lowered into the water and a compact tender garage.
The internal cockpit on this model is open at the rear for that elemental and breezy feel, and is generously glazed on the sides with half-moon windows providing plenty of natural light. Another benefit of the Azimut Atlantis 54 is the fully glazed cockpit sunroof that opens up at the touch of a button. Interiors benefit from a light-touch design motif with glazed wengewood surfaces, leather furnishings, teak flooring and polished fiberglass walls. To port there is an L-shaped sofa with a coffee table, a loveseat to starboard and a wet-bar console with an icemaker, fridge and an electric grill. Positioned forward on this model is a cocoon-style lounge pad to port, directly alongside a main deck helm station equipped with Raymarine or Garmin equipment, power-steering and bow thruster controls.
There is barely an inch of wasted space on the lower deck, where you will find a twin and a double berth positioned amidship with sleeping space for up to four guests. Positioned snugly towards the bow, meanwhile, is a master stateroom for two with plenty of storage and an en suite with a circular shower cubicle, timber surfaces and a tempered glass sink. Also situated on this level is a day-head, an open dinette lobby with an L-shaped upholstered sofa, and a kitchen galley with stainless steel worktops and Miele appliances. Lower deck rooms benefit from plenty of oval-shaped porthole windows and, to the sides of the galley and dinette, arrow-head glazing.
Performance is at the heart of every Azimut Yachts, but particularly with the Atlantis 54 that has a pair of Volvo Penta D12 engines provide top speeds reaching up to 40 knots. Comfortable cruising speeds clock in at around 33 knots, more than enough to leave rival boats far behind, while a fuel tank holding 1900 liters of diesel will keep you going on those long weekends island hopping.
