The Azimut Atlantis 43 is a 45-foot sports cruiser yacht that was launched by Azimut in 2015. A collaborative design effort between the in-house Azimut team and the Neo Design Group, this sporty day boat stands out from the crowd thanks to an ultra-modern look, sportscar-like handling and plentiful lower-deck accommodation. It should come as no surprise then that this yacht won the title for “Boat of the Year” in its class at the 2015 Asia Boating Awards. Eventually succeeded by the slightly longer Atlantis 45, the Atlantis 43 remains a popular choice on the used and charter markets and can still be seen wowing onlookers in marinas across the globe.
Like most traditional sports cruisers, the Atlantis 43 features a cockpit that is totally open to the elements at the rear, creating one single, free-flowing main deck space from bow to stern. One the foredeck there is a sunpad with marina-facing views and space for up to four sunbathers to soak up the rays. Teak-lined side-decks, safely enclosed by stainless steel guardrails, lead back to an aft-cockpit area with a transom sofa that adjoins a lofty rear sunpad. A pair of side steps then lead you down to a hydraulic teak swimming platform that can be fully submersed in the water. There is also a spacious tender garage down here, large enough to host a motor RIB or your choice of modern water toy.
Stepping into the cockpit itself one discovers that the transom sofa traces the starboard side of the salon and surrounds an extending teak breakfast table. There is also a large wet-bar console with an icemaker and an electric grill situated to port that sits next to a forward sofa, and a helm station equipped with a Stemar-upholstered piloting chaise and the latest Raymarine electronics. Internal spaces have a sleek and contemporary feel, with Batyline fabrics, grey Alpa oak walls and floors, leather and steel accents and plenty of glazed fiberglass.
The lower-deck space on the Azimut Atlantis 43 truly has the feel of a much larger boat and manages to fit in a twin stateroom amidship with a walk-in closet or a day-bed and trapezoidal windows on either side, as well as a master stateroom to the bow with knife-insert glazing, a double bed and a pair of hanging closets. Both bedrooms boast en suite bathrooms with shower cubicles clad in striped walnut and flattering LED mood-lighting. You will also find a galley down here, equipped with stainless steel worktops, a combination oven, a 2-zone hob and a 195-liter fridge-freezer, that sits across from a dinette with a U-shaped sofa and a dining table.
The Azimut Atlantis has been fitted with a pair of Volvo Penta D6 400 pod-drive engines for top speeds in excess of 35 knots and consistent cruising in the range of 30 knots. The use of bow thrusters, a Volvo Aquamatic joystick and a deep-V hull ensure that this yacht is superbly balanced and agile on the turn.
