The Riviera 56 Enclosed is a 53-foot convertible motoryacht with a flybridge that was produced by Australia’s premier yacht-building brand Riviera between the years of 2006 and 2010. A truly innovative model, this was the first Riviera vessel to be computer-designed and molded for pin-point precision, while this was also the company’s first yacht to boast prop-tunnels and an underwater exhaust for a more modern running style. What was more typical of a Riviera launch, however, was the sleek good looks, swept-back aerodynamic form, lavish interiors, a deluxe hand-finished appeal and a wealth of tournament-ready fishing amenities.
There’s a teak-lined aft-terrace with a twin sofa at the rear of the bridge for superb vistas out to stern and a bird’s eye view of the cockpit, while if you step inside the enclosed portion of the bridge you will encounter a swish L-shaped sofa surrounding a bespoke timber coffee table, a loveseat and a wet-bar station to starboard. Up front there are a pair of pedestal seats facing a modern helm station with a trio of Raymarine touchscreens, FLIR night-vision displays, a mounted compass, hand-held VHF, bow and stern thruster controls, power-steering and room for your choice of hi-tech upgrades like a fish-finder.
On the foredeck there is room for tender storage and an Idomar hydraulic davit, while to stern there is a vast, teak-lined and self-bailing cockpit designed around competitive fishing. There is room for a fighting chair back here, along with flush rod holders, mounted rocket launchers, outriggers bases, in-sole macerated fish boxes, sports lockers, a transom aquarium livewell, a lift-gate out to a bathing platform and a bait-prep center with an ice-chipper. You can also equip this space with an outdoor grill or exchange your fighting chair for a dining table to turn this into a family-friendly al-fresco entertainment area.
Stepping indoors you will encounter wrap-around glazing, solid teak decking and furnishings lined in plush Alcantara suede, along with warm oak or cherry surrounds for a sophisticated vibe. There is a walk-in galley to aft with solid countertops, a steel sink and all the high-end appliances needed for life at sea, while further forward there is an L-shaped lounge sofa, a coffee table and a U-shaped dining sofa that hugs a custom dining table. Head down to the lower deck to encounter 3 sumptuous staterooms each with their own en-suite facilities and showers. Climate-controlled rooms down here boast queen-sized or twin beds, glossy timber surrounds, lavish carpeting, plenty of hull glazing or skylights, full-height, cedar-lined lockers and plenty of room to unwind and relax.
Powered by twin 1015HP Caterpillar C18 Acert turbodiesels or an upgraded pair of 1575HP MTU engines, you can expect top speeds to soar past the 30-knot mark, while at cruising speeds of approximately 21 knots you will enjoy long-distance voyages with plenty left in reserve. Add an additional fuel tank to the mix to take this yacht’s fuel capacity to 1981 US gallons, which at a 10-knot cruising pace translates into a range of almost 1,000 nautical miles with 10% left in the tank.
