The Riviera 48 Enclosed Bridge is a 48-foot convertible motor yacht with a flybridge that was produced by Australia’s award-winning yacht-building firm Riviera Yachts from 1997 to 2004. A best-seller across the production run, this timeless and sturdy boat remains popular on the used market to this day thanks to its robust build-quality, still-competitive engines, rugged offshore hull and punchy fishing amenities. A vintage 90s style, a sheer line that runs from the flared bow all the way to transom, blade-like aerodynamics and deluxe living spaces give this classic model plenty to shout about as it straddles the divide between comfortable family cruiser and fish-fighting machine.
The bridge is open at the rear for an elemental feel as you man the controls, and there are two L-shaped sofas as well as a teak-topped breakfast table up here, along with a wet-bar console with chilled storage. Triple mullioned glazing at the front allows for impeccable visibility as you work a helm station that comes with two leather-lined piloting seats, a Raymarine chartplotter and autopilot, bow thruster controls, VHF radio, FLIR night-vision, Caterpillar engine feedback and power-steering.
Head onto the foredeck to discover a Brower davit for tender lifting, or get to work in the teak-lined, self-draining fishing cockpit at the rear. Back here you can expect plenty of rod holders, mounted rocket launchers, fresh and raw-water wash-down hoses, sports lockers, room for a fighting chair, a bait-prep center with an ice-chipper, an in-sole fish box and an optional transom livewell. Use the lift-gate to head out to a bathing platform to stern, or equip your bait-prep center with an outdoor Magma BBQ to serve up freshly grilled lobster.
Heading into the main-deck salon you will adore the authentic teak accents, high-gloss timber surrounds, laminated hardwood flooring, 360 degrees of mullioned glazing and leather furnishings. There is a dining sofa with a table upon entry and another lounge sofa further forward, while the galley sits on a sunken mezzanine level for private food prep. In here you can expect a two-zone Eurokera hob, a Sharp oven, Nova Cool chilled storage, a teak and holly sole, Corian countertops and plenty of cabinet space.
Down on the lower deck there is sleeping space for up to six overnight guests across a trio of plush staterooms each boasting their own en-suite facilities with shower stalls. A bunk berth and a VIP stateroom with a double bed offer full-height lockers and mirrored wall panels, while a master stateroom impresses with a wall-mounted TV, skylights, a queen-sized bed and hidden storage.
Powered by a twinset of 600HP Caterpillar 3196 diesel shaft-drives as standard, you can expect top speeds of around 30 knots and a slick cruising speed of approximately 22 knots. A fuel tank holding an incredible 670 gallons of diesel will keep you out on the water for days, while the moderate-V monohull designed by industry legend Frank Mulder will eat up those coastal swells with ease.
