The Riviera 4700 Sport Yacht is an elegantly muscular 54.9-foot built by premier Australian yacht brand Riviera Yacht from 2007 to 2011. A popular model that sold 82 hulls throughout its production run, the 4700 SY was also a prize-winner, nabbing two Boat of The Year awards and Best Cruiser of 10 Metres. And with plenty of space for sporting and entertainment, room for a tender, and three exquisite staterooms, it’s not hard to see why.
This Frank Mulder-designed craft has more than delivered on its brief to create a robust bluewater hull. The 4700 is, indeed, a quick and steady vessel with an integrated stern thruster and all the stats boat enthusiasts live for. This provides a solid foundation, however, for simply enjoying the water to its fullest extent. Lower the hydraulic swim platform, for instance, and find an under-cockpit garage with space for a Zodiac Open. Steps to starboard lead up to the generous, sociable cockpit lounge, which features a plush and generous transom sofa facing a long hi-lo dining table. For an al fresco cookout or cocktails, a wet bar forward and to port is equipped with an electric barbecue. Out on the bow, users can rest on the large sunpad.
The sedate salon boasts an indoor lounge with a folding table to port and an exceptional galley and helm to starboard. The galley is equipped with a two-zone cooktop, convection microwave oven, drawer refrigerators for all of your provisions, and plenty of storage, including a pull-out pantry. There’s even a drawer dishwasher to make clean-up a breeze. Owner-operators will appreciate the refinement of the helm, with two Rae-Line seats, one of which (the pilot’s, of course) can be electronically adjusted. Both seats enjoy footrests that make the journey that much more comfortable.
A central companionway leads down a few steps to three comfortable staterooms and a day head. The owner’s suite is located forward and features a large queen bed with walkaround space and a superb en suite bathroom with walk-in shower. Two further guest cabins can be found to port and starboard, both of which enjoy two single beds and a hanging locker. For those who want a little more space for socializing, Riviera offered a two-cabin layout which replaces one of the guest rooms with an extra lounge.
While it was produced, the 4700 SY was equipped with standard twin 575HP Caterpillar turbo diesel engines, with the option to upgrade to 715HP Caterpillars.
