The Riviera 37 Convertible is a 37-foot multipurpose sportfishing yacht with a flybridge that was produced by the award-winning Australian yacht builder Riviera Yachts between 2002 and 2008. Classic fishing lines with a distinct curving form to transom, a Carolina flare bow entry and a dedicated fishing cockpit demonstrate this vessel’s tournament credentials, while impeccably designed living spaces with a restrained and sophisticated vibe highlight this watercraft’s ability to also function as a comfortable family cruiser.
Many owners will have chosen to equip this vessel with a soaring Tuna Tower, but even without this addition you can enjoy elevated piloting up on the flybridge. Covered by a floating hard-top, the bridge features helm controls to aft, with two adjustable piloting seats facing a full Raymarine electronics package, Robertson autopilot, Morse controls, GPS, a fish-finder, a mounted compass, power-assisted steering and handheld VHF radio. Ahead of the helm there is a comfortable seating lounge with a forward sofa and a table from where guests can sip their drinks and admire the views.
Cast a line from the broad foredeck or place a few cushioned panels out here to turn it into a forward-facing sunpad zone. Head back to the self-draining aft-cockpit to find focused fishing tools like a transom lift-gate, up to eight integrated rod-holders, room for a fighting chair, a bait and tackle center with a fridge, steel fixtures, optional outriggers, a transom wash-down system, in-deck fish boxes and an optional livewell.
The main-deck salon benefits from wide side windows and mood lighting for a breezy feel, while a teak and holly sole, grained-matched hardwood accents, handcrafted cabinets with rounded edges and plush carpeting exude a sedate and elegant feel. There are a pair of richly upholstered L-shaped sofas here, with one surrounding a dining table and the other offering laidback socializing. A couple of steps down leads into a mezzanine galley with solid work surfaces, a Princess two-zone hob, a Vitrifrigo fridge-freezer, a Sharp combination oven and even an optional ice chipper. Down on the lower-deck proper you will encounter a starboard bunk berth for two with cabinet space, while a VIP stateroom with a queen-sized bed, a skylight and a full-height timber-lined closet is located up by the bow. A single head on this level impresses with a flushing toilet, a molded sink and a fully enclosed shower stall perfect for freshening up after a long day hauling in your catch.
Powered by twin 300HP Cummins 330B diesel engines as standard, you can expect top speeds hitting the 28-knot mark, while at a smooth cruising pace of 24 knots you will be able to ride this superb performer for up to 275 nautical miles before topping up your fuel levels. If you require an extra jolt of speed then some models feature optional upgrades to 370HP Cummins diesels, while a hand-laid fiberglass hull delivers a dry and agile ride whatever motor you pick.
