The Horizon FD85 is an 85-foot luxury motoryacht with a flybridge that was produced by the iconic Taiwanese yacht-building firm Horizon between the years of 2015 and 2021. A magnificent Cor D. Rover designed form boasts an assertive profile, dramatic cutaway sections, breathtaking architectural curves and sheer lines with a modern flair. A trio of exquisite decks feature the very latest in contemporary elegance, while a fast displacement hull with a double-height, high-performance piercing bow offers supreme offshore seakeeping, pulsating speeds and tremendous fuel efficiency.
A sprawling teak-lined flybridge impresses with space to aft for tender storage with a Steelhead davit, a circular jacuzzi plunge-pool and seating options. Further forward and nestled beneath a floating hard-top there is a Corian-lined and aluminum-framed walk-in wet-bar with a grill and a set of stools, a U-shaped sofa that wraps around a glassy dining table and an outdoor set of helm controls. A companionway door leads into a timber-lined pilothouse with a map-desk, companion seating, a Stidd helm seat and a leather-lined dashboard with power-steering, up to four Garmin MFD screens, thruster controls, engine feedback, a high-speed compass, VHF radio and more.
The elevated foredeck sits only a foot or two down from the bridge itself, and features expansive sunpad space for a trio of lucky guests. Down on the main-deck there is a sheltered and teak-lined aft-cockpit with room for up to four sofas and a bespoke coffee table, as well as side-steps down to a wrap-around bathing platform with a pantograph door leading into a private crew quarters.
Sliding glass doors open up to welcome guests into a spacious main-deck salon with plenty of teak and authentic hardwood, marbled surfaces, UV-resistant widescreen glazing, plush carpeting, and two sets of side doors. There’s room for an array of sofas and dining tables in here, while a port-side galley kitchen impresses with a slew of high-end cooking amenities and capacious refrigeration. The star of the show on this level, however, might be the full-beam forward stateroom. This lavish suite features a walk-in dressing room, a side sofa, dramatic atrium windows, a king-sized bed, a work-desk and a semi-open bathroom with two ceramic sinks, a wet-room shower and a marbled finish.
There’s more room on the lower-deck for eight further overnight guests, with each cabin on this level boasting generous en-suite facilities and knife-insert or horizontal port-hole glazing. Treat yourself to one of two amidship double cabins with semi-open bathrooms, or take your pick from a twin cabin to starboard and a VIP double by the bow, all with full-height lockers and a sedate appeal.
Powered by a pair of 1136HP Caterpillar C18 ACERT engines or twin 1200HP MAN V8 shaft-drive diesels, you can expect to hit speeds of up to 20 knots at full-throttle. Enjoy bluewater voyages on this category-A hull at a 9.5 knot pace and this yacht can cover 1,400 nautical miles before its 3,480 gallon fuel tank needs topping up, while at 8.4 knots this range expands to an incredible 2,482 nautical miles.
