The Horizon EP77 is a 77-foot explorer yacht that was produced by the award-winning Taiwanese yacht-building firm Horizon between the years of 2008 and 2017. This rugged trawler has been precision-engineered for long-haul offshore adventures, boasting a double-height, wave-slicing bulbous bow and a reinforced, class-A fiberglass hull capable of devouring the ocean. Yet this sturdy operator is also a stylish piece of kit, boasting a J.C. Espinosa-crafted profile, hull liveries in a range of sedate gel-coatings, chic outdoor spaces and refined interiors designed around long-range comfort.
Expect plenty of sun-kissed space up on the teak-lined flybridge, where a spacious aft-terrace can accommodate sun-loungers, sunpads and even a jacuzzi. Head forwards to grab the shade under a floating hard-top, and relax at a U-shaped sofa that hugs a bespoke timber-lined dining table. Across from this there is a Corian-topped walk-in wet-bar with refrigeration, a grill and four bar-stools, while at the front of this level is a fully equipped outdoor helm with superb visibility. Head into the raised pilot-house to discover a focused space with an L-shaped sofa, wrap-around mullioned glazing and a skipper’s door out to a Portuguese Bridge. A pair of Stidd helm seats face a dashboard with up to four Raymarine MFD G-Series screens, SmartPilot, VHF radio, a high-speed compass, bow and stern thruster controls, Arcturus TRAC stabilizer switches, engine feedback and a depth-sounder, as well as a power-assisted steering wheel.
A sheltered aft-cockpit features a transom sofa and space for an outdoor dining table, while side steps lead down to a hydraulic bathing platform and a broad tender garage. Main-deck spaces present a tasteful and restrained style with oak flooring, leather furnishings, dark exotic timber surrounds, plenty of glass on display and surfaces with a quartz, granite or marbled finish. An L-shaped sofa to aft sits alongside cabinet space and room for your home entertainment system, while ahead of this there is a formal dining table for up to eight guests. Also on this level is an enclosed kitchen with high-end appliances and enough chilled storage to last you for weeks.
Sophisticated lower-deck cabins boast generous hull glazing, sedate carpeting and masses of closet space. There is a double stateroom to port with an en-suite, while towards the bow there is a full-beam VIP stateroom with a queen-bed, two full-height lockers and a large en-suite with a shower. The full-beam owner’s stateroom amidship goes one better by featuring a king-sized bed, a side-sofa, a walk-in dressing room and a semi-open bathroom with a separate head and a wet-room shower lined in Venetian-style mosaic tiles. There’s also crew space for two with integrated facilities that are accessed via transom doors.
Choose from a pair of 560HP MAN engines, twin 503HP Caterpillar diesels or two 550HP Volvo Penta D13 motors for top speeds of between 12 and 14 knots depending on your propulsion option. Yet this vessel is more about stamina than speed, and you can expect a range of up to 2,400 nautical miles at a 10 knot cruising pace. Move even more leisurely at an 8 knot pace and this range expands to over 3,500 nautical miles thanks to four tanks holding up to 4,749 gallons of fuel.
