The Horizon EP150 is a 148-foot explorer yacht that was launched by iconic Taiwanese yacht-building company Horizon in 2016. Robust and durable, this mammoth motor-yacht was a collaborative effort between J.C. Espinosa and the in-house Horizon team, who worked to craft a long-range expedition vessel of uncommon luxury. A steel hull with a bulbous bow, a category-A offshore rating and a BV Ice classification has been designed for ambitious voyages at the extreme latitudes, while a svelte aluminum superstructure and contemporary-styled living spaces deliver comfort and panache.
Four splendid levels of relaxation space are crowned by the open, teak-lined flybridge, sitting partially underneath a floating hard-top roof. Up here there is a bespoke oval day-bed that surrounds a hot-tub, a walk-in galley with a barbecue grill, wet-bar facilities and stool seating for eight, and a sprawling conversation seating area for up to 16 lucky guests.
The upper-deck is no less impressive, boasting exposed tender storage for up to three water-toys with a hydraulic davit, anchoring equipment, two L-shaped sofas and a double sunpad out on the foredeck. To the rear there is a sun-terrace with a minimalist set of sofas and bar facilities, while sliding glass doors open up to reveal a tasteful upper-lounge with plush carpeting and stylish seating options. Also available on this level is a personal gym, a sauna, a captain’s quarters and a full-beam pilothouse with a trio of helm seats, a map-desk, hushed tones and a dashboard with a trio of touch-screens, power-steering, engine feedback, a high-speed compass, joystick handling and more.
On the main-deck there is a shaded aft-cockpit with a formal outdoor dining table in high-gloss timber, a transom sofa and side-steps down to a vast swim platform and a garage door that opens up to reveal yet more tender storage or water-level bar facilities for the beach-club feel. Sliding glass doors welcome you into a large main-deck salon lined in a selection of authentic timbers with tempered glass surfaces, marbled accents, leather furnishings, wide-screen glazing and custom-built ceiling panels. An aft sofa with a set of Ottomans and a coffee table gives way to a formal dining room, while a live-aboard galley kitchen completes the public spaces on this level. Further forward there is a full-beam master stateroom with a king-sized bed, a walk-in dressing room, a private office for two, two seating lounges and a double bathroom with a wet-room shower, a bath-tub and two sinks.
There are four more en-suite staterooms on the lower-deck for up to eight overnight guests, with sedate retreats on this level enjoying generous hull glazing and ample room to breathe. Service areas, storage and a crew quarters for seven with its own amenities round out the offering on this level.
Powered by twin 1770HP MTU 12V shaft-drive engines with ZF gears, the EP150 is capable of a 15 knot top speed and a steady cruising pace of 12 knots. Fuel storage of up to 17,100 gallons will keep you sailing for weeks, with an adventurous cruising range of more than 4,000 nautical miles in ideal conditions.
