The Horizon CC80 is an 81-foot power catamaran that was launched by the award-winning Taiwanese yacht-building firm Horizon Yachts in 2017. There’s a hint of the classic-contemporary to this watercraft, with handsome lines, a curved superstructure, teak brightwork and a refined profile harking back to the golden age of yachting. Yet this is a thoroughly modern vessel with a broad 27-foot beam, masses of free-flowing living space across a series of tastefully appointed decks and the very latest in propulsion methods.
Spy distant horizons up on the flybridge, where there is room to aft for tender storage with a davit, an open-air jacuzzi or a set of sun-loungers. The forward portion of the bridge features an enclosed and climate-controlled pilothouse with a sofa, bar facilities and an upper-head, along with a trio of Stidd Helm seats facing a hi-tech dashboard with a plethora of cutting-edge navigational amenities. A Portuguese Bridge walk-way at the front of this level leads to a central set of steps to the foredeck flanked by a pair of double-width sunpads, while on the teak-lined foredeck there’s space for a secluded seating area and an optional plunge-pool. Sheltered and wide side-decks then lead back to a shaded aft-deck with a modular day-bed, a transom sofa, a bespoke dining table and an open wet-bar. Side steps back here lead down to a pair of individual swim platforms attached to the rear of each hull, which can be connected by lowering a hydraulic platform into place for the full beach-club experience.
Head beyond sliding glass doors and into the spacious main-deck salon to enjoy picture-frame glazing, high-gloss timber surrounds, a teak-and-holly sole and plenty of space to unwind and entertain. Layouts in here are subject to customization but you can expect an open galley with granite surfaces, a dining table and a conversation lounge with up to three plush sofas. Up front there’s space for another lounge or even a main-deck master stateroom with full-beam dimensions and a semi-open double bathroom.
There is further sleeping space on the lower-decks for six more guests across four cabins, with two in each hull sharing lavish bathrooms lined in stone with timber-lined shower stalls and ceramic bowl sinks. Take your pick from a double cabin, a twin room or a pair of single-berths on this level, with rooms down here boasting oversized porthole glazing or lozenge-shaped hull windows.
Powered by twin 1136HP Caterpillar C18A diesel shaft-drive engines, you can expect top speeds to break the 18 knot barrier, while at a smooth 10 knot cruising speed you will enjoy week-long voyages thanks to a 3,600 gallon fuel capacity. This vessel’s dual-hulled approach to seakeeping, meanwhile, combines the inherent extra stability of a catamaran with a shallow draft and hydrodynamic efficiency for a superior ride.
