The Freeman 47 is a 47-foot sportfishing hybrid catamaran that was launched by the innovative South Carolina-based yacht-building company Freeman Boatworks in 2020. The largest model in the current Freeman fleet and flagship of the brand, the 47 promises dual-hulled, high-speed fishing on an unprecedented scale. A graceful sloping form to transom, a proprietary vented hull-form and up to four ultra high-speed outboard motors give this yacht stability, verve and plenty of pure pace as you outfox and outspeed your prey, while tournament-ready fishing amenities give fishers a real competitive edge. A true walk-around lay-out makes working this deck intuitive and easy, while there’s also plenty of room to relax and recharge the batteries between catches.
There is a double-width, padded chaise-longue out on the foredeck, perfect for taking it easy and admiring the view as you traverse the seas. When you arrive at your fish-rich hunting grounds, however, this space really kicks into action. Rod-holders in the gunwale, a casting platform, forward coffin-boxes, an ice-box and padded coamings throughout make this a prime piece of fishing real-estate. Things get even better in the cockpit, where there is room for a custom-built fighting chair or rocket launcher set-up to take pride of place. This self-draining space features a wash-down hose, a boarding ladder, LED lighting, steel cleats, easy access to a transom platform, rod lockers and a beam of more than 13-inches for an intuitive approach to fishing, while two aft-facing mezzanine seats back here provide room to catch your breath. Also to be found back here are plenty of Gemlux Bluewater rod-holders, outrigger bases, rocket launchers, tuna tubes, aquarium-style transom livewells, two 500-quart in-sole fish boxes, sports lockers, electric teaser reels and deluxe tackle storage options.
Sheltered under a fiberglass T-top and behind wrap-around glazing, there are two tiers of plush, diamond-stitched seats aft of the helm for up to six including the pilot, with individual seats boasting padded backrests, flip-up armrests and bolsters. At the helm itself you can expect a pair of oversized Simrad touch-screens with bundled instrumentation, joystick handling, Teleflex Optimus power-steering, hand-held VHF radio, a mounted compass, digital throttles, room for your fishing extras and a JL Audio stereo system linked to the boat’s integrated speakers. Built into the helm console itself is a hidden bathroom with a manual Marine head for added convenience. The helm is connected to four 450HP Mercury outboard engines for top speeds of up to 70 knots in ideal conditions, while at a 39 knot cruising speed you can expect to stay out on the water all day long thanks to a massive 1,000 gallon fuel tank. Enjoy the enhanced stability that comes with a two hull format and delight in this vessel’s ability to eat up the waves like never before.
