The Cruisers 50 GLS is a 52-foot express cruiser yacht set to be launched by the iconic Wisconsin-based boat-building firm Cruisers Yachts in 2023. The largest yacht in the adventurous GLS line of vessels, this model will feature radical new design interventions including an extra-wide bowrider lounge, expanded luxury accommodation below-decks and fold-out bulwarks to transom for a genuine beach-club feel. What remains the same, however, is a sleek and assertive profile with a curved cockpit hood, dynamic glazing and bullet-like performance on the water.
Plenty of cup-holders, JL Audio integrated speakers, a chiller box and even a hidden trash-can set the scene for entertaining out on the foredeck, where a bow seating area has been carved out of the hull. Out here you will also find a hook-shaped sofa tracing the sides of the bulwark, with comfortable backrests and cushioned seats surrounding a Hi-Lo table that can be fixed in place to turn this area into one sprawling sunpad.
To stern there are a pair of diving platforms either side of the outboard motors, but the space back here opens up at the touch of a button thanks to two drop-down bulwarks that transform into floating cocktail terraces or swimming platforms. This creates one, free-flowing beach-club area with a wet-bar and two Kenyon grills, a transom sofa, a pair of L-shaped twin seats in marine-grade upholstery and two, high-gloss timber-topped cocktail tables.
Heading into the shade of the cockpit you will be welcomed by a glazed sunroof and genuine teak flooring along with a long, port-side sofa and a starboard, marble-topped galley with a sink, an optional ice-chipper and a fridge. Up front there are two piloting seats facing a glass-finished dashboard with a trio of Simrad touchscreens, Mercury joystick handling, a leather-lined steering wheel, throttles, a high-speed compass and more.
Sleeping quarters for up to four on the lower deck never feel cramped thanks to chunky skylights and opening portholes on this level, not to mention good head clearance and mood lighting. There is a stateroom with a queen bed, a hanging locker and a wall-mounted HDTV up by the bow that is separated from the lobby by a set of French doors, while another double bed sits nestled behind the steps up to the deck. In-between there is another galley with a microwave and a fridge, and a main head with a mirrored medicine cabinet, a flush toilet, a ceramic sink and an enclosed shower stall.
Equipped with triple 600HP Mercury Verardo V12 outboard engines, you can expect the 50 GLS to reach astonishing top speeds of up to 50 knots, with smooth cruising speeds not far behind. An entirely new hull is the work of long-time Cruisers design partner Donald L. Blount and is set to prove capable of traversing choppy coastal and inland waterways.
