The Chris-Craft Roamer 36 is a 36-foot sports cruiser that was produced by the legendary Michigan-based yacht-building firm Chris-Craft between the years of 2004 and 2008. A fresh take on a classic model from the 60s, this sleek vessel blends heritage touches like a rounded transom, mahogany paneling and a classic navy-blue gel-coating with modern, swooping curves and dynamic contemporary glazing above the waterline. Perfect for al-fresco cruising with the family, this watercraft also features a wealth of lower-deck living spaces for weekend island-hopping, along with a rugged hull and powerful engines.
Though the teak-lined deck may be open to the elements it boasts a power-tower with an integrated Bimini roof that can be unfurled in mere moments for additional shade. To transom there is an L-shaped sofa with comfortable backrests that surrounds a timber dining table, with additional space for a few chairs. Ahead of this there is a wet-bar station with chilled storage, a sink and options like an ice-chipper and an outdoor grill. Up front there is a twin piloting couch as well as a companion sofa to port that can also be used as a chaise-longue, while the classic helm station boasts a Raymarine display screen, hand-held VHF, bow thruster controls, a tilting hydraulic steering wheel, Bennett trim-tab switches and a mounted compass.
A secluded and sun-kissed foredeck sunpad offers hours of relaxation under the rays, while cup-holders and mahogany grab-rails add a touch of elegance out here. To stern meanwhile there is a full-beam integrated bathing platform with an extending steel swim ladder for easy and safe reboarding after you’ve completed your laps of the boat.
A lavish lower-deck lined in authentic, satin-finished cherry and maple woods benefits from plenty of natural light thanks to atrium-style glazing built into the companionway door, a chunky skylight and knife-insert hull windows. An open galley and living room down here boast a dining sofa and a bespoke grain-matched dining table directly across from a kitchen with granite-effect work surfaces, a combination oven, a multi-zone hob, a steel sink and plenty of refrigeration options. Up by the bow there is a double cabin separated from the lounge by a privacy curtain, and in here you will encounter a mirrored headboard, shelving, a home entertainment system, a double island bed and masses of storage. A compact twin-berth for the kids is located just beyond the steps back to up deck, while a single head on this level features a toilet, a sink and a rounded shower cubicle with a teak-lattice sole.
Powered by twin 370HP Yanmar 6LYA STP diesel engines, with gasoline motors also an option, you should expect top speeds of around 30 knots and a cruising speed of approximately 24 knots. You will enjoy a comfortable and dry ride taking this vessel for a spin in coastal waters thanks to a bespoke Michael Peters-designed hull with a fine entry and a solid bottom.
