The Carver Trojan 440 Express is a 44-foot express cruiser that was produced by the Wisconsin-based yacht-building firm Carver between the years of 1995 and 2005. Marketed under the Trojan brand, this vessel bears a fearless, aggressive and streamlined profile that looks designed to roar past the competition, rip through waves and deliver an assertive ride. True to form, the 440 Express offers a speedy and sporty at-sea experience, while swept-back lounge space on the main-deck promotes stylish and relaxed open-air entertaining. In keeping with the rest of the Carver fleet this boat is vast and cavernous on the lower-deck, with sedate living spaces perfect for the voyaging family.
This yacht makes the most of its lengthy foredeck by placing a double-width modular sunpad out here, though there is also plenty of room to work on your summer tan across the rest of the main-deck. Keep the cockpit entirely open air or install a floating hard-top with a retractable sunroof for additional shade. To aft there is a curving U-shaped transom sofa in white leather with cushioned backrests that surrounds a bespoke coffee or dining table, while a wet-bar out here with a grill, an ice-chipper and chilled storage allows for convenient food and drink service. Up front there are a pair of twin sofas facing a starboard-side helm station carefully hidden behind a sloping windscreen, with the dashboard boasting Teleflex power-steering, throttles, hand-held VHF radio, autopilot, optional trim-tab switches, analogue display gauges and plenty of room for the updated MFD of your choice. Head all the way to stern to discover a full-beam bathing platform that completely opens up to reveal a capacious tender garage with a hydraulic davit capable of storing today’s modern water toys.
A climate-controlled lower-deck delivers best-in-class dimensions with tall ceilings, oval porthole windows and plenty of natural light via an atrium-style staircase back up to the main level. You can count on refined carpeting underfoot and your choice of sparkling white laminate surrounds or warmer authentic cherrywood. There is an L-shaped leather sofa upon entry, as well as a glass-topped coffee table, while an open galley is positioned to port. This kitchen features timber-lined cabinets, solid work surfaces, a full-height fridge-freezer tower, a steel sink, a combination oven and a multi-zone hob. There are two spacious cabins located aft of the salon, with each room boasting queen-sized beds, cedar-lined lockers and shared access to a bright bathroom with a shower stall. The master stateroom sits by the bow and benefits from a skylight, a queen island bed, hanging lockers and its own en-suite bathroom.
Standard power comes in the form of twin 450HP Diamond-series Cummins 450C turbo-diesel inboard motors, with top speeds of up to 30 knots and a cruising speed of 24 knots. Need a bit more energy? Then opt for alternative twin engines from Volvo, Caterpillar or MAN with up to 680 points of horse-power each and faster speeds at the top end. A fuel tank holding 432 gallons should keep you out on the water for days on end, while a robust moderate-V monohull was crafted by Italian naval architects DeSimoni Yacht Design for a dry, agile and efficient ride.
