The Carver 55 Marquis is a 57-foot luxury motor yacht with a flybridge produced by award-winning Wisconsin-based firm Carver Yachts between the years of 2006 and 2014. Crafted in partnership with Italian naval stylists Nuvolari & Lenard, this sleek and ultra-stylish vessel certainly boasts plenty of modish European styling. An assertive profile with a fine entry, blade-like side glazing and a swept-back aerodynamic form have been paired with restrained interiors that straddle the divide between classic and contemporary, yet with the sort of space, comfort and amenity you would expect from an American brand.
A floating hard-top provides plenty of shade for those enjoying the views up on the bridge. An open space to the rear can be used for either sun-loungers or tender storage, while an L-shaped sofa, a breakfast table, a side seat and a wet-bar console with a grill and chilled storage complete the leisure offering up here. A starboard helm, meanwhile, features a pair of adjustable Aqua Journey piloting chairs facing a dashboard with Teleflex power-steering, twin Raymarine touch-screens, a Voyager video monitoring system, QL bow and stern thruster controls, LectraTab trim-tab switches, hand-held VHF radio and a mounted compass.
One level down there is a modular sunpad ideal for picnics or sunbathing out on the foredeck, while in the sheltered aft-deck there is a transom sofa, another wet-bar and side-steps down to a full-beam bathing platform. Step through tinted sliding glass doors to encounter a lavish and minimalist salon with dark walnut surrounds, leather wall-panels, steel accents, plenty of natural light, an Ultraleather sofa, a pair of armchairs, a pop-up HDTV and angled side windows. Further forward there is a live-in galley kitchen with Karedon countertops, a Sharp combination oven, a multi-zone Eurokera hob, Frigidaire chilled storage, a steel sink and masses of cabinet space. Ahead of the galley there is a raised pilot-house with dining sofa that wraps around a table large enough for five guests, while a second, climate-controlled helm is located to port.
The spacious lower-deck impresses with a classic three-cabin, two-head layout, knife-insert glazing, plush carpeting and high-gloss hardwood surrounds. A bunk-berth to starboard shares head access with a double stateroom by the bow with a skylight, two cedar-lined closets and a queen-sized bed. The pick of the bunch down here, however, is a full-beam master stateroom amidship with a king-sized island bed, bedside cabinets, full-height lockers and a private bathroom with marbled surfaces and a walk-in shower stall.
Expect top speeds of up to 30 knots and a 26-knot cruising pace thanks to a pair of top-range 775HP Volvo Penta D12-800 diesel inboard engines. If you are fine voyaging at a slower pace than affordable alternatives include twin 500HP Volvo Penta D9-500 diesels that will still produce competitive speeds and great fuel efficiency. A fuel tank holding 836 gallons of juice, meanwhile, should see you out on the water all week as you use this vessel’s reinforced fiberglass hull to traverse pristine coastlines.
