The Carver 506 MY is a 51-foot luxury motor yacht with an enclosed flybridge that was produced by the renowned Wisconsin-based yacht firm Carver Yachts between 2000 and 2007. Introducing a more rounded style with curvaceous wrap-around glazing, a pointed bow, tear-drop motifs and a smooth, aerodynamic profile, this yacht still looks strikingly modern to this day. A double-height transom offers more of a rectangular contrast at the rear, while interiors remain chic, understated and sedate for a timeless approach to relaxation and comfort. A laminated fiberglass hull provides plenty of solidity and stability as you cruise coastal waters, while engines on this model remain competitive even in the current year.
The bridge on this model is essentially split into two distinct sections. Up front and up top there is an enclosed pilothouse with a trio of seats facing a helm station that sits directly under a glazed, opening sunroof. On this ergonomic dashboard you will encounter a Garmin MFD screen, hand-held VHF radio, bow thruster controls, a Raymarine depth-sounder and autopilot system, along with power-assisted steering and electronic Volvo throttles. Also available on this level is a curving sofa and a love-seat from where you can soak up the elevated views. A few steps lead back down to a raised cockpit with teak deck surfaces, an integrated sofa and a wet-bar station with chilled storage and an optional grill. Further steps to transom lead down to a full-beam bathing platform to stern with a waterside lazarette and a structural davit for convenient tender lifting and storage.
Heading into the cavernous main-deck salon you can expect to find handsome, high-gloss cherrywood surrounds combining with plush carpeting underfoot, curved windows to the side and plenty of hand-finished cabinetry. An L-shaped Ultraleather sofa sits across from a twin sofa and a circular dining table with four comfortable seats, while to port there’s an open galley. In the kitchen you will enjoy utilizing a three-zone hob, a combination oven, a steel sink, granite-effect Corian countertops and plenty of refrigeration.
Instead of a single lower-deck Carver have opted for two entirely private cabins at either end of the yacht. Each of these rooms holds a claim to being the master stateroom, with a full-beam suite to aft boasting a king-sized bed, hull glazing, a transom window, bedside cabinets, a backlit and cedar-lined closet as well as a semi-open bathroom with a waterfall shower room. To the bow there is another capacious cabin with a large double bed, two full-height closets and an en-suite bathroom. There’s even space down here for a walk-in dressing room, or, if you are expecting extra guests, a twin room with its own en-suite that doubles as a day-head.
A pair of 480HP Volvo TAMD74 diesel engines rocket this watercraft to top speeds of around 26 knots, while at a smooth cruising pace of 20 knots you will be able to ride the 506 for up to 230 nautical miles before refilling the 510-gallon fuel tank.
