The Carver 39 MY is a 40-foot luxury motoryacht with a flybridge that was produced by Wisconsin’s award-winning yacht-building firm Carver between the years of 2000 and 2007. One of the best-selling yachts of its era, this vintage model impresses with a signature style that features curved glazing, swept-back lines and a bulky presence to stern, along with hand-finished living spaces that boast best-in-class style and an unusual amount of sheer space.
The open flybridge on this model is actually split between two tiers, each with a distinct vibe. The al-fresco forward bridge boasts an L-shaped wrap-around sofa in cushioned, marine-grade upholstery, while there’s also space for a wet-bar with chilled storage, a sink and an optional grill. Up front there’s a forward-facing companion seat and a single piloting chair facing a central helm station that boasts a high-speed Ritchie compass, Raymarine electronics, autopilot, Side Power thruster controls, power-steering and hand-held VHF radio all encased in an ergonomic, acrylic and non-glare dashboard. To aft there is a slightly lowered level sitting under a floating hard-top that is perfect for storing water toys or hosting a set of sun-loungers or even a dining table. A full-beam, fixed bathing platform to stern floats just inches above the waterline and includes not only a telescoping swim ladder but a capacious storage lazarette that can be used for sports gear or as a chill-box. On the foredeck meanwhile there is ample room for a modular sunpad or two so that can you soak up the rays.
A cavernous main-deck salon with well over 7-feet of head clearance, multiple tiers of side glazing, atrium windows at the front, high-gloss cherrywood surrounds and furnishings in Ultraleather presents a unique space with plenty of privacy. A sprawling L-shaped sofa to starboard can seat up to five, while an armchair and a twin-seat are located to port, right by a set of cabinets and a home entertainment system. A walk-in galley on a sunken level features a hardwood sole, black granite-effect countertops, a three-zone Princess hob, a circular stainless-steel sink, refrigeration and a microwave.
Instead of a single lower-deck Carver have opted for two entirely private cabins bookending the hull. Head towards the bow to encounter a double stateroom with oval portholes, a skylight, a queen-sized bed, a clothes locker and two en-suite units, one of which features a shower stall and the other that boasts toilet and sink facilities. The full-beam cabin to aft features a timber-lined closet, hand-finished wood accents, a queen-sized bed, bedside cabinets, side glazing, a lavish en-suite with a shower and a panoramic transom window for superb water-level views.
Carver 39 MY models can be found with either gasoline or diesel engines, with twin 380HP Mercruiser gas motors hitting 25 knots at full-throttle and cruising along at a 16-knot pace. Diesel options include a pair of 370HP Cummins 5.9M Diamond series engines that should hit top speeds of up to 25 knots with a cruising speed of 18 knots. With a 330-gallon fuel tank aboard this watercraft, and a precision-engineered fiberglass deep-V hull that promotes efficiency you should be able to voyage with the family for days on end before heading back for a pit stop.
