The Betram 630 Convertible is a 66-foot convertible sportfishing yacht produced by Florida-based boat-building firm Bertram Yachts between 2004 and 2012. Elegant and streamlined, with a flared bow entry and sloping lines to transom, this may be one of the handsomest vessels that Bertram has ever launched. But it’s not just good looks that set this boat apart from the rest. Powerful engines, an offshore optimized deep-V hull and world-class fishing capabilities make this a superb option for the active tournament fisher, while luxurious lounge and sleeping quarters with a hand-crafted finish offer comfort, style and opulence.
Enjoy commanding views from your seat on an optional tuna tower, or take in the scenery from the flybridge, where elevated lounge space includes plush wrap-around seating ahead of the helm with room for a wet bar. Sheltered beneath a floating hardtop, the bridge also accommodates a helm station with a pair of adjustable, leather-lined Murray helm seats facing a dashboard with electronic Rexroth controls, BCS hydraulic steering, VHF radio, bow thruster controls, Garmin electronics and autopilot.
The 160-square foot, teak-lined cockpit is a thing of practical beauty, and includes fishing amenities like a macerated, in-sole fish-box, a salt-water washdown hose, a bait-prep center, a transom livewell, tackle drawers, flush rod holders, rocket launchers, outriggers, Glendinning Cablemasters, a self-draining sole, a transom lift-gate, an Eskimo ice-chipper and a floor-plate for the fighting chair of your choice. Also on offer back here is a mezzanine sofa lined in waterproofed upholstery, while an optional outdoor grill is on hand to barbecue burgers and lobster tails. Out on the foredeck, meanwhile, there is space to store a tender or, for the more traditionally-minded, room to cast a line and wait for a hefty bite.
Heading indoors you will encounter glossy cherry woodwork, fine carpeting and a U-shaped leather sofa to port that wraps around a bespoke coffee table. To starboard there is plenty of secure cabinetry with rounded edges as well as a dining sofa with an attached table. A walk-in galley on this level impresses with Corian countertops, Sub-Zero chilled storage, a multi-zone hob, a combination oven and a stainless steel sink.
On the lower deck there is a deluxe sleeping quarters for up to eight overnight guests across four spacious cabins. A twin room to aft shares a Jack-and-Jill head with a bunk-berth to starboard, while two en-suite staterooms will impress the hard to please with queen-sized beds and timber-lined closets. The double room to the bow boasts a skylight and the room to aft is large enough for a work-desk, while both cabins feature Corian-lined bathrooms with mirrored cabinets and shower cubicles.
A range of beefy engines are available to power this vessel, including a twin-set of 1500HP MAN D2842 diesels that come fitted as standard. Alternatively, upgrade to a pair of 1570HP Caterpillar C30 inboards or top of the range 2000HP MTU 16V engines for an extra burst of energy as you accelerate away. With these latter engines you can expect a 42-knot top speed, while at a cruising pace of 34 knots you will enjoy a range of well over 500 nautical miles with reserve left in the tank.
