The Bertram 39 CC is a 40-foot center-console sportfishing yacht that was released by the Florida-based boat-building firm Bertram Yachts in 2021. Built on a rugged and durable deep-V hull with a 22-degree transom deadrise and flared bow entry, this yacht has been fine-tuned around the competitive fishing experience out in genuine offshore conditions. Yet the expansive, walk-around deck layout also features plenty of room for the whole family to relax in both comfort and style, making this a great cross-over option for the dedicated fisher who also seeks leisure cruising capabilities. At once both refined and sporty, with sloping lines to transom and a swept-back look to the console cockpit, the 39 CC looks set to be a trend-setter for years to come.
Wide gunwales throughout hide plenty of flush rod-holders, while in the aft-cockpit there are a pair of 60-gallon glazed transom live-wells, a couple of in-sole fish boxes, elevated rocket launchers and a bait-prep station to port. Alongside these essentials are features like a transom lift-gate, a portside boarding gate, an icebox, washdown hoses, Gemlux outriggers and a floorplate for a deluxe fighting chair. The cockpit is also large enough to accommodate a twin sofa just behind the helm seating, while you can also install a table and a set of transom seating back here if you are primarily going to use this vessel as a runabout.
Most guests, however, are likely to be found up in the bow lounge, where a plush forward sofa with armrests is joined by wrap-around, C-shaped seating with backrests that traces the very edges of the bow itself. There is room for a teak-topped cocktail table out here, while cupholders and JL Audio speakers are on hand to provide a laid-back, easygoing atmosphere.
A center-console helm sits underneath a T-Top and behind a curved plexiglass windshield for unbeatable shelter, and you will discover four linked piloting seats in here, crafted from timber, steel and comfortable upholstery. The helm features goodies like a pair of 16-inch Garmin touchscreens, digital throttles, a power-assisted hydraulic steering wheel, a Mercury VesselView system, trim-tab switches, optional Seakeeper stabilizer controls, a Skyhook digital anchor, integrated autopilot and a Mercury joystick.
There is something of a surprise below decks on this model, with a companionway door leading guests down into a sedate lower lounge clad in fiberglass and authentic timber with room for a double bed or a large sofa. Also on display in here is a wall-mounted HDTV, a large ceramic bucket sink, worktops, chilled storage and an LG combination oven. You will also find an enclosed bathroom down here with a macerated toilet and a hot shower, perfect for freshening up after gutting your prize catch.
A trio of 400HP Mercury Verado outboard engines power this boat to top speeds of up to 43 knots, more than enough to hunt down a particularly feisty marlin, and an economical cruising pace of 35 knots. At this lower pace you will enjoy a range of around 314 nautical miles, while you can trundle along for well over 500 nautical miles at a laid-back 8.5 knots.
