The Bertram 28XC is a 30-foot dual-console multipurpose fishing boat launched by Florida-based yacht firm company Bertram Yachts in 2022. The most compact of Bertram’s current fleet, and based on the same popular design as sister vessel the 28CC, the 28XC is specially configured for rugged outboard engines, the perfect choice for families who wish to be out on the water from dawn to dusk. Raw power combines with a graceful deep-V hull capable of withstanding wicked offshore conditions, while fine-tuned fishing prowess sits alongside the sort of luxurious and comfortable finish that families will adore.
Head back into the aft cockpit for a dedicated fishing space with nothing left to chance. Expansive in-sole macerated fish storage and a 35-gallon glazed transom baitwell are joined by goodies like flush rod-holders, a Yeti icebox, mounted rocket launchers, a transom lift-gate, a portside boarding gate, a washdown hose, self-draining deck surfaces and a bait-prep station. Alternatively, you can equip this space with a wet bar console to starboard that comes with chilled storage and an outdoor grill, while a flip-down transom sofa and a single rear-facing seat that can be turned into a daybed provide plenty of room to enjoy the views and maritime breezes. To port there is also access to a single bathing platform with a swim ladder located clear of the outboards, from where you can enjoy saltwater swims.
Up front and accessed via a walk-through panel built into the windshield, you will find a cozy bow lounge perfect for lazy afternoons spent absorbing the rays. Plush upholstery in off-white and sedate beige covers a chaise longue, a single seat with a backrest and a fold-out armrest, and a single seat right up against the bow pulpit. The single seat can also be lifted up to reveal a hidden storage locker capable of keeping all your fishing gear or watersports equipment. Stainless-steel cupholders are sprinkled across this space to keep your drinks secure and within reach, while grabrails are intuitively placed for ease of movement. The upper cockpit, meanwhile, is covered by a hard-top and sheltered from spray by wraparound glazing, and in here you will find two adjustable helm seats, one of which faces the starboard side helm station. The modern dashboard boasts a tilting power-assisted steering wheel, a large Mercury or Garmin multifunction touchscreen, a stabilizer switch, digital throttles, trim tab controls and a backlit compass, as well as the controls for the boat’s JL audio system. An actuated door to port hides another essential amenity on board this vessel in the form of a below-deck head with a sink, a mirror and a flush toilet, perfect for freshening up.
Powered by a pair of 300HP Mercury outboards with upgrades to 400HP motors also available, you can expect thrilling top speeds of at least 45 knots. The sweet spot for cruising, meanwhile, has to be a flat-out 30-knot pace, which would translate into a range of around 277 nautical miles, enough for long-haul trips out to tuna-rich fishing grounds.
