The Bertram 28CC is a stunning 30-foot center-console sportfishing boat first launched by the Florida-based yacht-building firm Bertram Yachts in 2021. Though she is the most compact vessel in the current Bertram fleet, the 28CC packs plenty of punch, offering thrilling speeds, magnificent fish-fighting facilities and plenty of outdoor relaxation space. At 8,500 pounds, this versatile runabout has plenty of presence on the water, while a deep-V fiberglass hull with a Carolina-style flared bow-entry and a 23-degree transom deadrise has been expertly crafted for balance on the turn, offering an uncommonly dry ride. Though built around the practical demands of deep-sea fishing and the comfort that modern families demand, this is still a thoroughly stylish vessel, with wide, staggered gunwales, a sleek hard-top, plush seating and the option for a customized livery. The Bertram 28XC was based on the same popular design as the 28CC.
Expect digital throttles, a Mercury VesselView touchscreen, a power-assisted steering wheel, trim-tab buttons and a Seakeeper stabilizer switch at a helm that is hidden behind a transparent windshield and underneath the floating hardtop. A pair of adjustable helm seats face the controls and come with flip-up bolsters, folding armrests and footrests for a comfortable experience whether you prefer sitting or standing as you command your vessel. Immediately aft of the helm seats there is a wet bar with a Yeti icebox, cupholders, a sink and an optional outdoor grill, along with a bait-prep space.
A spacious aft cockpit has been fine-tuned around the sport-fishing experience, and features expansive in-sole storage, two below-deck fishboxes, a bait-prep station, flush rod holders to transom, a 35-gallon transom baitwell and mounted rocket launchers attached to the rear of the hard-top. Unique touches on this vessel include a port-side boarding gate as well as a transom lift-gate that leads out to a pair of bathing platforms to stern, ideal for enjoying swims or hauling that big Marlin aboard. A genuine walkaround deck layout, meanwhile, helps fishers to track their quarry as it shifts around the boat, while stainless steel cleats and flush rod-holders are peppered throughout the gunwale.
Families, too, will enjoy using this watercraft as a day-boat, and are likely to be found in the bow-lounge, where wrap-around, diamond-stitched seating is joined by a pop-up cocktail table lined in teak, JL Audio speakers, steel grab-rails and plenty of cup-holders. The bow lounge can be used as a pair of chaise-longues or as cushioned seating for up to five, while a forward-facing seat directly ahead of the helm boasts superb marina-facing views. This al-fresco space is ideal for soaking up the sun, though an optional sunshade can also be installed for a cooler and more sedate feel. A hidden head compartment, meanwhile, impresses with teak surrounds, a sink with a tap, a hull-side window and a flush toilet.
A pair of 250HP Mercury Verado outboards come as standard on this vessel, though upgrades are available to twin Verados with up to 400HP of power should you need an extra burst of acceleration. Should you go with the latter option you can expect top speeds just shy of 55 knots, while at a cruising speed of 36 knots you will enjoy a range of approximately 243 nautical miles.
