With only 110 hours, over a year of remaining Yamaha warranty, and always under the protection of a full mooring cover, this Chris-Craft is the best example of their classic 29 Catalina on the market today and in quite some time.
Thanks to the mooring cover, the gelcoat, teak, and soft goods show like new, having been spared the weather and sun while not in use. This, combined with barely 100 hours on the engines, make the boat mechanically and cosmetically feel much newer than a 2017. The Heritage trim edition dresses the boat with just enough teak for it to pop, but not an overwhelming amount to take care of, particularly with the full boat cover.
Synonymous with quality, Chris-Craft is known for producing strong, smooth-running boats with classic bluechip American styling and yacht-like construction. In true Chris-Craft attention to detail and styling, the deck gelcoat, powder coating, and even speaker covers all match in Ivory Cream, which is not only more stylish than white, but is also easier on the eyes on a sunny day.
A premium gentlemen’s center console, the boat can back it up with sporty performance and rugged construction. Notable features, options, and upgrades include:
The bow is set up for entertaining with four stainless steel cupholders, A high-low bow table makes for a very versatile bow – keep the table down and converted to a sunpad for loungers, or raise the table and enjoy drinks or a meal. The forward-facing console seat easily unlocks and raises to reveal a spacious head with toilet, sink with pullout faucet, and overhead light. For convenience, the SensaTank monitor for both the water tank and holding tank is in the head as well. Forward-facing access to the head is much wider and easier to use than most center consoles in this size boat. It also makes it very easy to move items in and out when using the head for storage, which may not be necessary considering the large in-floor bow storage under the bow table.
A low-profile windshield with stainless trim and teak accents creates a beautiful console with retro feel. The 15” Garmin touchscreen chart plotter sits in the middle of the stylish, grated metal dash. Flanked to either side by a Garmin VHF 200 and a Fusion NRX200i hard-wired stereo remote. The Fusion also integrates with the Garmin chart plotter and drives four JL Speakers.
Yamaha Command Link Plus instrumentation gives all engine vitals and vessel information, all of which is also integrated into the Garmin chart plotter. Effortless steering is made possible by an Optimus electro-hydraulic steering system, around the dock, the engines turn lock to lock with only a few turns of the varnished, teak steering wheel. Optimus also makes it very easy to add a joystick if desired. All electronics along with helm rocker switches, battery switches, and trim tab control with indicators, are all centralized to the helm and give the captain full command.
The helm and companion seat both have flip up bolsters and folding armrests on both sides. The starboard seat folds forward to reveal more storage with a drain, while a large storage locker is underneath the captain’s seat, making it easy to access binoculars or whatever is conveniently stored. A oversized teak cockpit table folds up from it’s resting spot behind the helm seat console, letting passengers in the cockpit place their drinks and items within an arm’s length. The 12V Isotherm drawer refrigerator slides out of the starboard side of the leaning post.
Chris-Crafts attention to detail is again evident by their decision to use navy caulk for the coaming board inserts, to match the hull. The transom features a comfortable and wide bench seat, the bottom of which can be hinged up for access to the bilge. The stainless-steel trimmed transom access door hinges forward for easy boarding. The swim platform is teak decked, but covers easily with the full boat mooring cover and makes for low maintenance teak throughout the boat.
The entire cockpit is shaded by a sliding sunshade that cleanly stores under the existing top. When fishing at night, two spreader lights are mounted on the powder-coated top supports. The cockpit features seven rod holders and gunnel rod storage for six, along with hookups for both raw and fresh water washdowns. The snap-in deck carpet all can come out for traditional nonskid when desired. Pop-up cleats can be recessed when not in use for clean styling, and to avoid snags with fishing line.
The boat is priced as a 2017, but feels and looks considerably newer. Simply put, it will not last.
