History of Carver Yachts
Charles Carter and George Verhagen began sculpting mahogany-planked, high speed runabouts in a garage in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1954. What they originally thought was just a hobby revolved into a business. As quick as a wave crashes, is as fast as the word began to spread about Charles and George and their high quality boats. They chose the name Carver to represent their business by combining the first three letters of their last names and just like that, Carver Yachts was born.
Jumping ahead two years, in 1956, the two entrepreneurs moved their fast growing business to Northeast, Wisconsin. Here is where they dedicated work force and excellent transportation facilities. Throughout the 1960’s they built mahogany runabout boats and quickly added cabin cruisers to their expanding line of vessels. In the 1970’s they switched from mahogany to fiberglass, as well as including larger, twin inboard powered cabin cruiser designs constructing the successful 33’ Mariner. Carver Yachts obtained new owners in the 1980’s which lead them to be able to expand sales beyond the Great Lakes region and was now able to become a recognized leader in the luxury motor yacht market. By the 1990’s they introduced the elegance of the Voyagerlong-range cruiser series in addition to the Montego series of stern driven cruisers. Carver Yachts launched their largest yacht in the year 2000, the 57’ Voyager Pilothouse. From spacious, functional and dependable cruising vessels, Carver Yachts continues to lead the yachting industry today.
