Apreamare was born in 1849 when Giovanni Aprea began hand-building gozzi, Italian wooden sailing boats, for the fishermen of Sorrento, Italy, a town overlooking the Bay of Naples, northwest of the Amalfi Coast. Aprea had no idea at the time his craft would one day become a luxury cruising yacht of the highest quality.
After World War II, the shipyard became a laboratory as a new generation of Apreas began experiments installing car engines on their small gozzo. The new gozzo was so popular with pleasure seekers that Apreamare quickly graduated from the fishing boat sector and began focusing on leisure boats. In 1989, Apreamare released the Smeraldo 9, the first boat with a planing hull able to reach high speeds.
Nearly two centuries since it first began, Apreamare remains true to the handcrafted tradition of the Sorrentine shipyards. But its modern incarnations are neither nostalgic nor faddish: handed down between five generations of the Aprea family, Apreamare combines heritage craftsmanship with modern technology, marrying elegant Italian design with impressive speed. Apreamare is now part of the parent company of Ferretti Yachts, Pershing Yachts, and Riva Yachts.
Known for its robust fiberglass hull structures and its use of sumptuous interior materials such as Viennese straw, deep mahogany and chic teak woods, Apreamare’s ethos of comfort, beauty, stability, and performance is unmistakeable across all three of the ranges offered today: the Gozzo, the Apreamare, and the luxurious Maestro. Launched by Cataldo Aprea himself, the Gozzo range offers small, sleek vessels modelled on the original gozzo Sorrentino with remarkable speed, comfort, and fuel consumption – perfect for day trips.
Both fast and stylish, the signature Apreamare range offers eight models ranging from 32- to 65-feet long, all with graceful, traditional lines. With three stunning models ranging from 56- to 82-feet, the Maestro range is the jewel in the Apreamare crown. Launched in collaboration with the Zuccon International Project for interior and exterior design and with Umberto Tagliavini of Marine Design and Service for the hull lines and technical project, all three Maestro models are luxurious recreational cabins built for navigating and defending against the waves.
Apreamare Models
Apreamare Smeraldo 45
Built in collaboration with renowned yacht designer Tommaso Spadolini, the Smeraldo 45 is a classic 1950s throwback with a vintage-inspired curved bow with stretched, less rounded deckhouse lines. A classic Apreamare U-shaped sofa fits seamlessly into the bow, perfect for entertaining. The attention to detail and use of fine materials is on ripe display: mahogany sheathing on the broadside, polished mahogany boiseries, leather details in the doors and walls. This extends even to the two bathrooms on board, with mosaic tiled walls and marbletop sinks. The Smeraldo 45 makes brilliant use of space, sleeping up to 6 people across three bedrooms below deck – one VIP suite, one bedroom with two twin beds, and one spartan single room, making it perfect for a getaway with close friends or family. Powered by twin Volvo Penta D6 370hp with IPS pods propulsion, the Smeraldo 45 reaches a maximum 33 knots and a cruising max of 27 knots with a maximum range of 340 nautical miles. Taking its name from the Italian for ‘emerald,’ the Smeraldo 45 is a true gem.
Apreamare Maestro 56
This magnificent, ship-like yacht is the smallest vessel in the extraordinary Apreamare Maestro range. With sides higher than the deck, the Maestro 56 is built to defend against choppy waves. A round windshield that extends all the way around the unintrusive deckhouse. A classic rounded sofa sits six people in the fly, providing maximum sunbathing potential. The gunwhale is made of robust, hardy teak, providing the aesthetic refinement characteristic of Apreamare Yachts. The twin Volvo Penta IPS2-950 engines allow the Maestro 56 to reach up to 30 knots, with a cruising speed of 25 knots and a maximum range of 370 nautical miles. Boasting six berths in three cabins and one crew berth cabin, the Maestro 56 can accommodate up to 12 people, making it perfect for parties and excursions.
Apreamare Maestro 82
The ultimate in performance and comfort, the Apreamare Maestro 82 is as plush and elegant as an Italian villa. As with other Maestros, the Maestro 82 was made in collaboration with the Zuccon International Project for interior and exterior, and Umberto Tagliavini for hull lines and technical design.
So it is no surprise that its unique streamlined profile stands out from showier superyachts, offering a restrained, timeless sophistication. Even so, the sheer size of this Maestro, at 82-feet, is imposing – destined to make a strong impression wherever it docks. The upper deck is long and sleek at a jaw-dropping 60-feet, providing a free-flowing and spacious outdoor living area with room for a helm to port and a three-person seat on centerline. Forward and aft are two sunpads, the latter of which doubles as a removable cover for a jacuzzi.
The Maestro 82 offers an expansive combination dining and sitting room with sofas with plenty of natural light to port, and a matching sofa and rising flatscreen to starboard. Below deck are four guest bedrooms, including a master stateroom with a king berth, large windows, and a spacious shower. This yacht would be ideal for four couples or a large family, comfortably sleeping up to 8 people with generous indoor and outdoor ensuring that no one feels crowded. With twin MTU 12V 2000 M93 engines, the Maestro 82 reaches a maximum speed of 29 knots with a cruising speed of 25 knots and a maximum range of 280 nautical miles.
