It’s not a simple task to create a large sportfish and for years many captains felt anything over 70-feet may be too large. Viking Yachts didn’t just break through that threshold with the 74 Convertible and later on the 82 Convertible. Instead, Viking re-wrote the entire concept of what it means to own a big sportfishing yacht with the launch of the 92 Convertible. With a stunning profile and sleek lines, winning a billfish tournament never looked so good. Built with the serious angler in mind, many of the 92’s that are on the water today have been tournament tested and succeeded with flying colors.
The Viking Yachts 92 Convertible isn’t all hardcore fishing, but also takes cues from motor yachts in its class with extravagant dining and seating options throughout the boat. The 92C has dual mezzanines – one in the cockpit with the other on the main level aft deck. The aft deck mezzanine offers plenty of seating including rear-facing lounge seats and a second area with seating and a table for outside dining. Included in the mezzanine as well is an outside galley and grill so you can bring fresh mahi and tuna right from sea to plate.
The Viking 92 Convertible sports a 23-foot beam which helps to create an enormous amount of space inside the salon which gave designers enough room to fill it with plenty of couches and seating, as well as a 60-inch flatscreen hidden in the teak cabinets. The galley provides lots of storage and plenty of room for more than one person to be cooking and any chef will enjoy the granite countertops and L-shaped island. Owners with guests will appreciate the day-head forward for those long trips out fishing and at the end of a day’s work; everyone can relax in the formal dining area which can accommodate up to eight people. The six staterooms Viking worked into the layout are also each equipped with their very own private head and shower, meaning everyone on board has the chance to relax comfortably in their own space. The owner’s suite is a full-beam master stateroom which has a king-size walk-around bed along with his and hers bathrooms.

It’s the ‘fish-ability’ though that makes a Viking and the 92 Convertible does not disappoint. The cockpit is a massive 238 square feet which gives the mates and angler plenty of room to battle. The custom tuna tower from Palm Beach Towers is 43’ high giving the captain or spotter fantastic 360-degree views. And you can’t forget the tackle drawers built right into the lower mezzanine adjacent to the cockpit. Everything you need is here to win the next billfish tournament.
With such a large boat, Viking Yachts couldn’t spare any expense in selecting the right engine as to not lose any performance capability. Owners have the option to choose either Caterpillar C32 ACERT 925-hp diesels or the MTU 16V2000 M96L 635-hp diesel engines with a big time fuel capacity of over 3,400 gallons. If you are ready to trade in your sportfishing yacht with Staten Island Yacht Sales and move into what Yachting Magazine has dubbed “The Titan”, the Viking Yachts 92 Convertible is turnkey and ready to deliver.
