The Viking Yachts 75 Motor Yacht was the company's first step back into building cruising yachts instead of hardcore sportfishermen in some time. Except it wasn't just a step in building cruising yachts, the factory out of New Gretna lept in with both feet. The 75 Motor Yacht would be the entry point for Viking to test the popularity of how the leader in sportfishing yachts would do in an otherwise crowded market place for cruising yachts. The 75MY was so well-received Viking soon began production on adding two additional models to the line - the 82 Cockpit Motor Yacht and the 93 Motor Yacht. Viking has since sold several 75's and the model will continue production for the forseeable future.
The exterior of the Viking 75MY looks like a Viking Sportfish with an Enclosed Bridge - sleek, panoramic windows, massive cockpit. But as you begin to explore the changes made for Viking's cruising customer, it becomes apparent how the factory has taken one of the best built bluewater yachts in the world and converted it for yachting. For example, the bow area typically un-used on a sportfish now has a comfortable U-shaped couch with separating arm rests that is just behind an extra large sunpad that can fit 2 to 3 guests. The swim platform aft is molded in and planked with teak for better footing. This is an excellent area to launch for scuba diving or even just sit while at anchor with your feet in the water.
The aft cockpit is another remarkable area Viking designed for the cruising enthusiast. The aft cockpit is raised up so the view over the swim platform is exceptional and the overhand from the bridge provides plenty of shade. The is a U-shaped couch and table for dining al fresca with two additional chairs for guests. Teak steps leading to the outside seating area on the skybridge, a perfect location to enjoy a cocktail and watch the sunset. The skybridge is a very popular gathering place on the yacht, in addition to being where the captain is at the helm. There is an L-shaped couch with table, wet bar, and flatscreen television to accompany the amazing views.
With a beam of over 20-feet, the interior of the Viking 75 Motor Yacht is nothing short of incredible. The salon is spacious and inviting. The tri-level design allowed for a great use of space for family-oriented cruising and extended journeys. The forward galley is a country-style open kitchen with lots of seating in front of large windows that offer amazing views at mealtime. Top end appliances and lots of storage space make feeding everyone on board a pleasure instead of a chore.
The accommdations on board the Viking 75MY are also a selling point. All five luxurious staterooms all have their own private head for maximum privacy. The full-beam master cabin offers an extra large berth with storage under the mattress as well as multiple drawers. Nightstands are on both sides of the berth as well as a full desk, television, and hanging locker. The master head features his-and-hers sinks, full shower, and again, lots of storage spaces.
