Viking 70 Enclosed Bridge: Introducing The New Gen II Viking 70EB
viking 70 enclosed bridge - gen II

Viking Yachts 70 Enclosed Bridge

SUMMARY

The new second-generation Viking 70 Enclosed Bridge takes the Gen II 70’s tournament-bred platform and adds the extra comfort and protection many owners want for travel and offshore fishing. Introduced at the Palm Beach International Boat Show, this four-stateroom, five-head bluewater battlewagon combines the new 70’s refined hull, lengthened cockpit and fishability-focused layout with an enclosed bridge that serves as a weather-protected command center and climate-controlled second salon. The first Gen II Viking 70 Convertible will debut at the 2026 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show.

The 70EB can be ordered with or without a Palm Beach Towers tuna tower, and its upper deck features a one-piece windshield, flush-mounted displays, cleanly arranged controls, a finely crafted interior staircase to the salon below, and an aft deck with seating and a helm station for docking, backing down and close-quarters maneuvering. The result is a serious offshore sportfisher that delivers Viking’s trademark performance and tournament capability with the added luxury, visibility and all-weather comfort of an enclosed-bridge design.

"The 70 Enclosed Bridge's cockpit will be 15 inches longer, giving you and your crew the extra space you need to bring in the winning fish," said Rich Lucas, Viking Brand Manager for SI Yachts. "With speeds up to 43 knots and excellent sea keeping abilities, you can fish more comfortably and for longer periods of time, gain ground faster during tournaments, and everyone on board can escape into a comfortable salon to relax. The 70C is going to be a very successful model for Viking."

WHAT ARE PEOPLE SAYING ABOUT THE NEW 70 EB?

  • Viking President Pat Healey: “We have the best team in the business. Every time we challenge them to create a new model, they deliver. Together, this group has designed more than 80 models over three decades – an incredible accomplishment by any standard. And there’s a lot more to come.”
  • Viking Design Manager David Wilson: "Each hull and running surface played a part in shaping this boat. We started fresh, looking at what we did in this size range last time and how we could make it even better. Our goal was to optimize performance while providing spacious and comfortable living accommodations. We achieved this by taking small amounts from multiple areas – a half inch here, an inch there – and when you step aboard, you will realize how large it feels inside, and you will really notice it when you run the boat. You can’t just add length to a cockpit and call it a success. Every change in weight, structure and geometry affects how the boat runs – and it all has to be balanced from the keel up."
  • SI Yachts Vice President Jay Hendrix: "Viking has made a lot of tweaks to an already extremely successful model in the first-generation Viking 70. Not only was the size of the cockpit increased, but the deckhouse added nearly half of a foot and the foredeck added about 9-inches, along with a slight stem angle increase. Not only will you feel the difference in the ride, but the interior space in the cabins has grown. The 70 Enclosed is the ultimate sportfishing yacht for our market in the Northeast thanks to its climate-controlled bridge."

WHAT DESIGN CHANGES WERE MADE FROM THE ORIGINAL VIKING 70?

The first generation Viking 70 Convertible was built from 2010 to 2017. A lot has happened since then in both materials used during construction, technology added to the Viking shipyard, and the overall hull designs of the more recent models. As you would expect, the focus is always on performance, speed, fish-ability, and overall comfort. Here are a few of the design differences between the first-and-second generation models:

  • The new Viking 70EB is 3-inches narrower than the 68 Convertible and nearly an inch narrower than the first generation 70. This improves efficiency.
  • The deadrise, chine placement, and strake geometry have all been adjusted for a smoother and drier ride.
  • The hull consists of a resin-infused cored composite construction, using end-grain balsa and closed cell foam cores in selected areas for optimized strength and stiffness, while also minimizing weight.
  • The first generation 70 had an approximate weight of over 125,000 lbs. During a Marlin Magazine test in 2010, the displacement was 127,859lbs. The new 70C has a standard displacement of 118,500 lbs.

WHY WILL SERIOUS ANGLERS LOVE THE VIKING 70EB?

If you're a serious tournament angler looking for your next rig in the 68 to 75-foot range, the Viking 70 Enclosed Bridge has everything you desire in an offshore battlewagon. As mentioned above, the cockpit was lengthened in this new version to give your crew extra room when fighting a fish during a tournament. This extension was worked into the design from the foundation of the yacht, ensuring the right trim and sightlines would remain balanced, while maintaining the aggressive and sleek exterior lines. The cockpit on the 70EB is 194 square feet.

Equipment in the cockpit includes:

  • Secure transom door and gate with mounted swim steps
  • Live-well in the transom box with split lids
  • (4) flush-mounted rod holders
  • Observation mezzanine with lounge seating, vinyl-covered cushions, tackle cabinet, and bait freezer
  • Flybridge overhang for mezzanine shade and lighting (red, white, and blue)
  • Optional air conditioning
  • Optional swim platform and ladder

WHAT FEATURES ARE IN THE ENCLOSED BRIDGE ON THE VIKING 70?

The enclosed bridge on the new Viking 70 offers a luxurious and comfortable space on board with elevated views and a climate-controlled environment. Features include:

  • Walnut hardwood cabinetry and furniture
  • Air conditioning with reverse cycle heat and dehumidification mode.
  • Walnut cocktail table
  • Windshield defoggers
  • Forward control station with all necessary electronics and switches
  • L-shaped lounge on raised floor
  • TV flat screen

WHAT ARE THE INTERIOR ACCOMMODATIONS LIKE ON THE NEW 70?

The Gen II Viking 70 Enclosed Bridge's interior salon and galley are laid out to feel both luxurious and purpose-built for offshore living. Just inside the cockpit, the dayhead is immediately to starboard, and the salon opens into a warm, refined space finished in horizontal-grain walnut, with a portside L-shaped settee and walnut table opposite a raised starboard dinette with rod storage below.

Forward, the galley is available in two configurations: a peninsula layout that extends to port with two bar stools and added counter space, or an island arrangement with three bar stools that allows traffic to move around the galley more freely and creates a more open feel in the salon. The result is a main-deck layout that balances comfort, storage and entertaining space while still reflecting the practical, tournament-minded design Viking is known for.

Equipment in the interior includes:

  • Custom galley island with 360-degree access with refrigeration and freezing, along with 3 swivel barstools with backs
  • Walnut dinette table with high-gloss finish
  • High velocity exhaust fan
  • Garbage disposal in sink
  • Sub-zero refrigerators and freezer
  • Option: Owners can choose for a satin interior finish throughout

HOW MANY CABINS ARE ON THE NEW VIKING 70 EB?

Belowdecks, the Gen II Viking 70 is laid out with four-staterooms around a large amidships master, a forward VIP, a starboard guest cabin with upper and lower berths, and an aft crew stateroom with its own bunks and private access to the engine room. This layout gives the boat a setup that works equally well for family cruising or serious tournament programs. In the standard arrangement, the bow stateroom carries a queen berth, while buyers can choose an optional crossover-forward layout that swaps in a more flexible berth arrangement with an upper cradle for extra sleeping versatility. The lower deck also includes practical details like companionway rod storage and a washer/dryer, so the 70’s cabin plan feels every bit as purpose-built as it is comfortable.

WHAT ENGINE OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE ON THE VIKING 70EB GEN II?

The Viking team has chosen two engine options to power the new Viking 70. These include:

  • (Standard) MAN V-12X 2,200MHP
  • (Optional) MTU 12V2000 M96Z 2,222MHP
  • (Optional) CAT C32B 2,433 MHP

The goal for Viking is to reach the low 40-knot range which is in line with the performance testing of the Viking 68, which reached a 43 knot speed with the 2,200 MHP MAN engines that come standard on the 70. The 68 also featured flow-aligned rudders and struts, along with propeller pockets and electronic power steering. Owners can also choose to add these options in the engine room:

  • ElectroSea for centralized seawater system
  • Crushed ice system
  • Additional fuel tank
  • Additional generator - 29kW with gas/water separator
  • Seakeeper 26 gyro
  • Watermaker - 1,400 GPD

ARE THERE OTHER VIKING 70 MODELS AVAILABLE?
